The Creative Zen Micro
Creative has just officially thrown down in taking on the iPod mini with their new 5GB Zen Micro MP3 player. First
off it comes in double the number of colors—Black, White, Silver, Dark blue, Light blue, Red, Purple, Citrus Orange,
Lime Green and Pink—and is exactly the same width as the iPod mini, three-tenths of an inch shorter, and two-tenths of
an inch thicker, and has 25% more storage capacity, a built-in FM tuner, a removable 12 hour battery (believe us, this
is a big deal), a vertical touchpad like the one found on the
Creative Zen Touch, customizable menus, and the ability
to sync your calendar, contacts, and to do list with Microsoft Outlook. They're taking pre-orders on it for $249.95.

I have the same question as comment #147. HOW DO YOU INTEGRATE THE ZEN MICRO WITH YOUR CAR? IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE?
mr.anderson @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
iv researched alot about the creative zen and the ipod mini, and i found that most people who dont like the zen dont have any good reasons to bake themselves up with can you tell me any?

I've spent about two months researching different mp3 players, and I've decided that the Zen Micro is for me. I like the interface much more than the ipod's click wheel. I've used some of my friend's ipods, and I just don't get excited over them. However, the Zen Micro's features are awesome. Plus, the 5gig model comes with accessories that would be 30 bucks if you bought the ipod.

*~* Transmitting to Car Stereo *~*
I had the same question as you guys. How do you do it, or is it even possible? A quick check on Creative's website answered my questions.
It IS possible....for $49.99 + shipping. (lol)
The Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter works with the ZM so you can broadcast it to any stereo system. It also includes a car charger, which makes it a better deal since you are getting 2 things for about $25 each.
Here is the link:

If the link doesn't work, go to the us.creative.com store & look under Mp3 accessories.
Hope the is Helpful, M.E.

Correction:
I just realized it's not a car *charger*. It's a car power adapter for the Transmitter. It only powers the Transmitter, but does not charge the batteries.
Bummer. ~M.E.

I was about to purchase a Zen Micro when I cam across dozens of sites about Zen Micros headphone jacks. Then I find out that my own sister is on her 2nd Zen Micro and it too is giving her problems!! I am so disappointed! The Zen micro seemed like my dream MP3 player... Anybody has had experience with these issues?
Hans @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
Well I played my Zen Micro over car speakers with a cassette tape jack. It worked fine. As for the reliability I have no complaints in the 5 months I have had it.
Nick @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
I use a music downloading program (LimeWire) and I use Windows Media Player 10 to put the music on my Creative Zen Micro. The only time I use the Zen Micro Media Explorer is when I want to add things to my calendar, add tasks and contacts. Since I have two computers, so I use it to take music from the Zen to put on my other computer. You do not need the Zen Micro Media Explorer to put music on your Zen but it is a useful tool.

People asks the most craziest dumbas s questions @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
umm lois, why don't you press the "shuffle off" option in the dj menu, or if there isn't repress the 'shuffle all', and if that dont work, just remove all the songs off of your zen, and put them back on (i bet you never looked to see if the songs are shuffled on the zen internally huh? of course not!). If none of that works, throw your zen accross the room, and get and knife and stab yourself in the brain. it will relieve you of stupidiness :-)

I am looking at this MP3 player (Creative Zen Micro)for my 12 year old son. Can anyone help? We would like him to be able to set up and load songs himself. Is this possible? And how durable is it? Thanks!

Steve M @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
Oh it comes with a charger, at least when you buy them at wal-mart. It also comes with a hard plastic case and draw-string bag.
Definetly buy it from wal-mart.

Is there a good manual for the operation of the Creative Zen Micro? My issue is listening to books and stopping in the middle of a track and getting back to the same point at another time. It can take forever to navigate through a 7 hour track with the center wheel.

I bought a zen micro last week, and loved it for about 6 hours. When I woke up the next morning and turned it on, it froze on the start screen and never recovered. I took it back for a refund, will definitely be getting something else.

I've had a zen micro for almost a year. I've enjoyed it and used it a lot - both the radio and the mp3 use. It's been easy to load stuff onto and to take stuff from there and shift it from one computer to another. It even offered to sync my online computer music library with the zen player when I first plugged it in at my office. Now, creative has finally developed firmware that allows the playing of audiobooks, etc. from audible.com
My big complaint is hardware. I started having trouble turning it on and off about two months ago. It got to the point where I had to take the battery out to do so. Then, when I updated firmware, I couldn't do that anymore. I donn't know what happened, but now the problem is even worse: my computer doesn't recognize it when I plug it in. So, I don't think I can turn it on and use it all. Creative customer support says at this point I have to send it back for repair/replacement. I'm hoping for replacement because the repair warranty is only good for three months. If anyone has hints for solving this problem that creative hasn't come up with, please share!
Rachel @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
Sorry to burst your bubble,
but the zen micro isn't the best.
the ipods are 80 time better.
So what is it has an FM radio?

I can't switch my Creativ Zen Micro on?? What should I can do ?
Karen O @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
I'm having problems with my zen micro staying on. I charged the original battery and that didn't work so I put in a fresh battery and charged it and it does the same thing. It won't stay charged. I turn it on, the light comes on with the CREATIVE LIGHT and then it darkens and turns off. What can be done to fix this problem? I like my Zen, tell me how to fix it.
Chris @ Dec 19th 2005 12:05AM
If you have a large playlist, the Zen micro will have problems shutting down and restarting. Try clearing the playlist prior to shutting down. My wife and I have had ours for a year and no problems.
evan @ Dec 26th 2005 1:43AM
I've done alot of research and this one just makes sense. it fits everything, it plays everything, plus extras and more storage. but unfortunately it excludes the stigma of owning an ipod from it's packaging. hopefully this design flaw will be remedied for the future releases. hapy new year.
