Liebermann ends it all
Even if they were legit they certainly did a pretty good job of coming off like a bunch of scammers from day one, but Liebermann, the PC "maker" all the geeks loved to hate, has thrown in the towel. The blame a lack of willing investors (El Reg think it's more like a lack of willing customers), but we'll give them props for getting a lot of people's attention. They just never learned the difference between good attention and bad attention.

Put the label on Taiwan OEM laptops and filled them with marketing bullshit.
They may have actually shipped some product, but all in all it was a hoax. Has anyone bouht one of their servers wth this clothes-dryer-hoses coming out of them?
Does anyone believe they were going to deliver a 5 GHz computer this Fall?
Their hyperbole was pure bunk. It's no wonder they couldn't get any investors. They made Steve Jobs sound modest as Mother Theresa.
These guys made an interesting ploy, the design of the website was somewhat taken off Apple's. The info pages on the computers was just absurd, tons of words with tons of animated gifs.
The grand canyon was a good concept :p
Can somebody give me more information on the laptops of Liebermann? Are they as great as you can see on the website http://www.go-l.com/laptops/producer/features/.
Thanks
You may all hate Liebermann computers but as the owner of one i can honestly say that these extremely powerful computers were not just Taiwanese computers with new logo's on, i have never seen a computer for sale that even compares to mine and they are more reliable than any other. So i think unless you have owned one you should keep your slanderous comments to yourself.
I am with Robin, I have seen photos of these great machines and not ones taken by Liebermann Inc.! The photos I have seen were taken by a close friend that attends shows, he was at, I think the OCZ suite at a hotel and had the privilege of testing out a MachL tower attached to the 4X19" display! Now I have seen some pretty good scams but to build this machine and monitor just to add to the hoax is crazy! My friend also was able to try out one of the laptops that they had and tried it out during the whole show, in his words, "AWASOME" I am sorry to say this but all of you claiming that this is a hoax are committing slander and if I owned L would have you all in court. All you (which you all must be Mac lovers) have done is take a company that had the ability to take PC to the ultimate level and crushed them. Okay so it was just a company, though thanks to all of you idiots that could not get the proof before opening your mouths there are now 30 people out of jobs and a man's dream smothered due to people that can't except change. I hope that you are all happy with yourselves and wish to compliment on Liebermann for not taking this the bad way to the point where you all should be in court, no they just let you talk and now you have set the computer industry even further back!! If you attack all great new ideas that come out, then what a great future we have to look forward to. Please do proper research before you speak again about some companies that are also some peoples dream.
audibeara6 - Are you retarded? They took a stock chassis, slapped a stone 'L' on it, installed a couple of tweaker programs and sold it for 3 grand. It's not a revolution. It's a computer. And no, Apple consumers bashing them couldn't have possibly put them out of business. Did Apple fanboys prevent well-meaning PC users from buying L's hyped-up schlock? Were consumers held against their will from writing checks to Liebermann, Inc?
No.
They were given a chance to perform in a laissez-faire, capitalist marketplace and failed miserably. If you want their "revolution" to continue, by all means send them a check for $5 million.
With regards to your comments on slander, I really don't think you know your ass from a hole in the ground. Implying a business is a hoax because the business can't back up what it claims with actual products is not slander, it's conjecture or rumor. Slander is a malevolent and malicious attack with the intent to hurt the reputation of an individual or entity. This wasn't slander. They lied. Now they're out of business. Don't buy their propaganda.
And finally, putting a desktop CPU in a laptop isn't a "great new idea". It's not "innovation". It's self-defeating to the purpose of a laptop. It's stupid. That laptop becomes a desktop if its battery life is 15 minutes. Then you just bought a really expensive desktop that you can't upgrade. Brilliant! Call the patent office! Wireless computing is innovation. Indexed filesystems with attributes are innovation. Overpriced, overhyped computers are passe.
Genius...I don't think! more like retard, if you do any internal research, yes they are currently not producing any computers, but they are finishing raising funds thru an investment group named Red Ruth Ventures to put the company back on it's feet. YES BACK ON IT'S FEET. I personally own the hollywood laptop, and it rocks!!! all I can say is that by this fall all the sceptics will be put to R.I.P. After that feel free to change your name from Genius to Dumbass
One word: Bullshit.
If anyone actually owns a L machine then why in gods name don't you take some photos of them and post up a link?
Unable to do so? Then you're a bullshitter plain and simple.
Don't peddle this rediculous nonsense for any longer, either provide us with prove or just shut the hell up.
I read over the new and unimproved L website and all I can say is that they are liars. There is no Mobile AMD64 3700+ CPU. They play up the ATI Radeon 9700 like it is the fastest thing out there when the ATI X800 Mobility is now got that crown (at least for the ATI products). My Ferrari 3400 Notebook is faster than the L piece of crap, and I bought mine last year. L is a scam and nothing more.
