I-O DATA LinkPlayer AVLP2/DVDLA and DVD player shipping soon
I-O DATA will be shortly releasing their new LinkPlayer AVLP2/DVDLA, which is both a networked
media player and DVD player. The device will play DivX and WMA files over a network from a connected PC, and will
also play back photo folders to your set. It also supports high-def resolutions up to 1080i for those video and
photo files, so while there may be better and/or cheaper network playback hardware, this device's component form factor
and bundling with a DVD player makes it pretty attractive. Expect to see them in November at around $250, which we
think is very reasonable.

This device is exactly what I have been looking for for almost a month.
I couldn't find a previous model of this device from the same manuf; so I assume that no one has used this device (seeing as it is newly introduced)...So has anyone used another device from this company. Care to comment on quality/functionality...

I just purchased this box. I already had a TurtleBeach Audiotron with Ethernet connectivity in the location I wanted to place this. With that said, I was able to easily swap in this new box and get it up and running in a matter of minutes! Setup was seemless and easy.
I already had converted some of my kids favorite DVD's to Divx, so I had some content to test it on. The box worked like a charm...
The photo display works great at first glance. There is even a slideshow option.
Music is straight forward.
Don't understand why anyone would need a MediaCenter PC in there living room. I'm going to get one for my bedroom next.
Goodbye Tivo... I'm going to record my shows to my PC so I can use this box to watch them when I want.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Could you please tell me if the I-O DATA LinkPlayer AVLP2/DVDLA and DVD can playback high-definition prerecorded discs and whether it can capture high-definition video/broadcast signals?
Thank you very much.

Uti - it plays DivxHD DVD's, not the upcoming BlueRay and HD-DVD's. No, it does not capture HiDef video.
