Bose SoundDock review
We had high expections (okay, maybe not) when
we heard about the Bose SoundDock, yet another speaker
system for iPods (save the first and second gen models) and iPod minis that also charges your player. CNET rather likes
the player, though; it filled their 10 by 18-foot room with good sound, masquerading well as a big speaker. We like its
looks, but $300 is just a bit too pricy for us, especially without stereo separation greater than three feet and no
other audio inputs besides the iPod connector. Next!

c=glad to see your honesty with a review of one of your sponsors.
At $300 one better hope it gets some bids when they try to sell it two years (or less) down the road when Apple releases a must-have iPod that has an incompatible connector.
I'm impressed that Engadget has the editorial freedom and comfort to pan the device your own RSS feeds are hawking.
Like Jesse said, only I'm puzzled as well. Are you advertising something you don't believe in? That's a little surprising.
I find Engadget's approach refreshingly honest. Yes they might upset this advertiser but they make some good points that Bose can take on board. Also I don't read the review as absolutely damning. The device seems good - simply overpriced for the spec.
Skip the SoundDock and buy the Wave radio. You will get roughly the same audio quality, a radio and alarm clock for the same price.
I am a long time bose fan and recently purchase the bose sounddock for my fiance to use in the gym. Bose has always been good at providing big sound from small packages due to its wave guide system. I actually interned for Bose in college and was paid to physically test their products (Design Assurance Engineering)...till breaking/failure points. They over engieered all their products (a good thing for consumers). The products had to perform to specs during salt fog test, humidity chambers, heat chambers etc. It was like Q's lab in there. they even had a room called the bunker, where they'd run white noise through the product for heavily extended run periods (there were double doors to enter and you had to wear two forms of ear protection). They had tests where they'd run high currents through the product until the speakers would literally burn up.
...I wanted to find out if anyone has had a failure with their ipod since using this thing? This morning my fiance used the product and when she came up and put the ipod back in the craddle for charging...the thing wouldnt power up?? It still doesnt power up and I'm wondering if this is a result of the sounddock?? ...let me know.
TESTICLES! That is all..
I bought an ipod and an IM7 docking station for it. The ipod would freeze up on several occasions and would have to be reset. I returned the ipod and got another one. It did the same thing. I exchanged the IM7 and bought the sounddock. It does the same thing. I contacted Apple and they said the problem is not theirs. They are probable right since the ipod works with headphones. Apparently, there is a compatability problem. I have not been able to find anyone with the same problem yet. Any ideas?
Ipod working fine for 9 mos. Got the Bose sound dock worked fine for only 3 weeks now sudddenly everything is skipping (iTunes and CD imports) and I cant adjust the volume when using headphones now!!!
My local retailer let me take home both the Bose SoundDock and the IM7 to try at home. To my ears, the IM7 just beats the Bose on overall sound quality and volume levels but the IM7 has caused my 60Gb IPOD to lock up 4 times in 2 hours. Think they're both going back....
