LG Philips claims largest OLED display
While the display is only 20.1-inches
(pictured right is their 13-inch version), that's still huge in the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode, aka the
displays of tomorrow) world, so LG Philips is really touting their prototype active-matrix screen as the
world's largest. For at least this week, we think. The display weighs in at a 2048 x 1536 resolution—a whopping 3
megapixels. OLED is cheaper (well, it will be), brighter, clearer and consumes less juice than LCDs, and we've really
been hankering for a large OLED display since we saw the Sony
Clie PEG-VZ90 in action.

I heard a rumour that these things go steadily dimmer with time. If true, Great news for TV manufacturers trying to squeeze money out of saturated market. This saturation is also the reason for the introduction of wide screen TVs - in my opinion. Good thing this site doesn't have karma like slashdot, otherwise I'd be modded a troll for sure!
There is a problem of lifetime in OLEDs currently. Especially the blue oleds. But it will get solved. Hopefully.
Ron.

Samsung SDI, the Korean giant's display division, has announced prototypes of a 17-inch active matrix organic light emitting diode (OLED) display. Due for launch next year, the display has a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels and a brightness of 400 lumens, and is the largest OLED matrix display to date according to the company. I know a good German and English Info Site http://www.oled-display.net (English) http://www.oled.at (German)
