The Blendie 2000 voice controlled blender
We're totally digging on the idea of kitchen appliances we'd be embarrassed to actually use around other people,
like the Blendie 2000, Kelly Dobson's prototype for a voice controlled blender that requires you actually mimic
the sound of a blender if you want it to work, like you have to grumble at a low pitch if you want it to spin slowly,
and increase the pitch and volume if you want to make a smoothie.

actually the link is popgadget.net not .com, could you correct it?
thanks a lot.

Uh, wouldn't this thing trigger itself after you got it going? I would hope so because while it was churning a smoothie, I doubt the microphone would hear any "smoothie mixing noises" you were screaming.

I think it may be a joke James..

Theres movies and everything, it must be one hell of an elaborate joke for not really that many laughs Thickey. Although yeah, even it isnt a joke it probably should be.
It actually appears to be designed to cause "personal revelations in the participant" such as "[openind] up hidden emotions or thoughts or feelings" because "The participant empathizes" with the blender by making stupid noises.
Seriously theres some mad people out there look at the official page http://web.media.mit.edu/~monster/blendie/
Having independant torque and speed controls on a blender does sound pretty neat though to be honest.

Do you think that the things stops when you are screaming.
Would it not be so funny to shout 'blend' when someone is cleaning the blades.

This is great, now we need the same thing for controlling motorbikes, chainsaws and door bells.
