Infinium's Phantom video game console returns
The good news is that Infinium Labs isn't suing anyone (again) for talking trash about the PC-based video game console they're supposedly coming out with (and which was originally supposed to be out today!), the bad news is that they're up to their old tricks again, with some an announcement yesterday about how they've partnered up with Limelight Networks for a deal to distribute games online. Fine, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's time for a little less talk and a little more rock, you know what we mean?

do they have any publishers on board? or what? or it just does subscription PC games? i don't get it.
i remember reading about this ages ago thinking it seemed like a dumb idea and most likely to exist in a vaporous form.
seems like getting an Xbox 2 would make more sense than this thing. but then i did actually purchase a TurboGrafx-16 and a Virtual Boy so maybe that comment is a bit hypocritical.
I love my TurboGrafx :(
still have and play my TurboGrafx-16....that's right baby...16 bit graphics is where it's at!
I remember seeing a commercial for this on 2advanced.com's website a while back. Its sposed to be like an xbox-like console with a HDD but the games are all downloaded from the web through some service, and its sposed to be built around the web and multiplay, as opposed to adding that functionality as an after thought (ps2, I'm lookin in your direction). They had a great idea but now with the impending launch of ps3 and new nintendos they are going to lose that edge...

I doubt that should the phantom do unlike its name and actually appear, that I would even by it anyway. You see, I'm one of those special people that can tell when something is bound to flop. So yeah... never touched that TURBO 16 or the VIRTUAL GIRL for that matter (did they really have to temporarily jack the title BOY from the NES handheld!?).
