The Audio Backpack
We weren't able to find a place to park our boom car when we moved to Manhattan (that might explain why the girls from JJ Fad stopped kicking it with us around that time), which is why the Audio Backpack will just have to do. It's a backpack with flap-mounted two directional 5 watt speakers that can be repositioned for maximum annoyingness to your fellow pedestrians and subway riders. There is, of course, a slot for holding your MP3 player or CD player (or Walkman, if you still swing that way), and they claim that you should be able to get ten hours of public nuisance-time before you'll have to replace or recharge its six AA batteries.

Osiris has already done this (better it seems too) with their G-bag...

Yeah, this is old news. I saw this at the CES in January. The guys who run the company are pretty cool, and their bags are fairly durable with moderate price points.

This would be cool if instead of speakers there was a subwoofer of sorts. While that would certainly present some immediate power and weight problems, but if used in addition to headphones, it would fill out that bottom end that tiny in ear drivers can't quite get to; the stuff you feel on larger systems but is just not possible in localized earphones. This could make for for a listening experience much closer to that of a nice speaker system and if done right, the crossover point could be low enough that it likely wouldn't be very audible to bystanders. There's gotta be a market full of extrem sports nuts that would go for that.

man, that things is nerdy. if i ever saw someone on campus or in a city with that thing, i'd instantly write them off as a tool.
