Suddenly that silver one we got looks so dingy: Lik-sang scored a photo of the new black version of the
Nintendo DS which is due out next year. Apparently
Nintendo had been planning to introduce the DS in multiple colors, but stuck with just silver so they'd have enough
ready for launch.

That looks sweet...but I'm hoping they make a yellow one...yellow just looks good on nintendo products, also that spice color for the gamecube controller would work nicly with the DS.
sonuva! the main complaint i really have about my ds right now is that it is so incredibly ugly, the black woulda helped out a little.
Krylon makes a great paint for plastic. Sure, it'll void your warranty, but isn't it worth it?

I don't buy it. First of all, it just looks like a Photoshop job done on current pictures. Secondly, if the top part of the DS is black, the bottom part won't be. Nintendo has already said that every DS will be two-tone. Meaning you will never have a solid colored DS (excepting maybe special editions) including this all black one.
First of all, the above image does look two tone (black and grey). Second, the posters are right, it is a pretty poor Photoshoped image (interesting how Photoshop has now become a verb....). HOWEVER, that doesn't nessessarily mean that it isn't true. In fact, I would be suprised if Nintendo doesn't come out with multi-colored devices.
One thing though.... I hope Nintendo also does something more with that 802.11 they've got in there, and that the DS is firmware upgradeable.
It is a photoshop. Look at the image and compare it to the one on the DS box, there the same image. Iv seen the orignal loads of times, proabably even posted here in pre-launch articles.
Just a thing about people claiming stuff is photoshopped...remember that pic of a sticker that said "iPods lick balls"? Everyone claimed it to be photoshopped, but I saw it with my own eyes a week after seeing the post (I have a pic of it from my camera phone if anyone wants to see it).
Just take a look at the buttons and the directional pad. That alone should tell you that it's PSed.
I so want the black one. I was skeptical of this system till I actually played Metroid on it this weekend. I was very impressed.

It probably is the same image re-coloured. Do you not know how companies do slightly differing promotional renders of the same item these days? Do you think they photograph a new coloured unit every single time from exactly the same angle with the same lighting conditions, etc?

Looks good, although you can already buy NDS Skins from Ebay apparently.......
I'd love to give my DS a custom paint job, I'm worried bout ruining it though.
U people are some what negative, this is a true innovation, when i first designed Microsoft, none of these implications were even thougth of. rather than being critical, be positive.
