I use Adblock selectively.
On websites where the ads get in the way of content, I block all the ads.
I block ads that are full of animation and flashy colour changes.
Also, I kill heavy Flash ads becuase they chew up my valuable bandwidth.
Also, I use generic block strings like
*/ad/* , */ads/* , */banner/* , *adtech* , *annonce* , *doubleclick* and my fav *gator*
I only use these because they seem to be the worst offenders of overly pushy advertising.
On sites like engadget and joystiq I specifically don't block ads, because often the ads interest me.
Although, if the ads in the main column get any bigger, out they go ;p
