I-O Data's HDZ-UE1.6TS puts 1.6 terabytes on your desk
If you're looking for the perfect way to drop almost 3k on a single peripheral device for that (very) special
someone this holiday season, look no further: ranging in sizes up to 1.6TB, Japanese firm I-O Data's HDZ-UE1.6TS is
sure to beat the pants off whatever you got (and then some). With Firewire and USB 2.0 it should be right speedy-quick,
but that ¥280,000 (about $2,750 US) kind of hurts our feelings, you know?

Why aren't these devices coming wiht built in NAS functionality. If Linksys can put out a device for $80 that makes any USB Drive device a NAS than I can't believe this is rocket science.
Lacie has had 1.6TB external drives out for a while now, nothing new... and judging from the pics, they're smaller, and they support usb2, firewire 400 AND firewire 800, and can be daisy-chained as well..
much better than this if u ask me... not to mention they look nicer!
I agree with drew. I hunger for such a device, NAS enabled that is...
The price isn't too bad, though you could just buy the drives yourself and RAID them for about $1000 less (that includes new case, power supply, RAID controller)
Also, the Lacie drive lists for $2200...
