Nextel Bluetooth Blackberry 7520
Nextel has started selling the Blackberry 7520, an updated version of
the 7510, but with Bluetooth and GPS support, enhanced attachment viewing, and more memory. Available for $300, the
7520 is actually Nextel's first Bluetooth phone and has the usual BlackBerry features such as push email, wireless
organizer, a color display, and Nextel Push-To-Talk.

It's called Direct Connect, not Push To Talk. That's Verizon's (or someone's) version of what Nextell has been doing for years.
I ordered mine today. Price after $100 trade in was $264. I'm upgrading because of the Bluetooth functions and the attachment opening functions.
Good upgrade here. It seems they have taken a step in the direction that we want. We're looking for advancements though. This isn't exactley a sidekick two, but I wouldn't give up on new innovations. I think I see some kind of tv coming in the future as well as video conferencing. I think I see moto and docomo coming together some time soon. Technology will advance!
Just a WARNING!
I have the Nextel Blackberry 7510. The battery lasts only 2 days if you are lucky.
My other co-workers have the AT&T Blackberry's, and they can last a week or more with no charging.
The ext - heavier and larger w/ its own special door/cover - battery last about 2 days w/o charging and typical phone useage.
Does anyone know if the blackberry 7520 will work with the acura tl?
Got it today. The unit is more compact, the keyboard feels nicer, the image viewer is great, the attachment viewing works well, and the bluetooth is ok. I am unable to dial my phone from my Sony Peg-UX50. Initially I thought this was because the BB7520 only allowed for a single connected BT device but that appears to be incorrect as I disconnected my Jabra headset and it still wouldn't allow dialing. I'll have to play around a bit more.
The 7520 works great with the acura TL, however the direct connect won't work through the TL and when the bluetooth seems to be enabled it disables the speaker on the 7520 so you can't hear anything.
gadz... it has happened...
my 17 year old has command of my Blackberry!
he wants "IM" [aol] on it...
is this possible?
Please enlighten me. I don't get the connection between the 7520 and the Acura TL (car?).
Thanks
The Acura TL has technology known as Handsfree-Link (HFL) which allows certain phones with bluetooth technology to link with it. This allows you to communicate with a caller through the TL's stereo system. It is cool.
can you view actual web pages with the BB7520? Not just text but actually images? is this possible. someone told me you could im trying to figure it out. Any comments let me know thanks.
Yes, the 7520 is compatible with the Acura TL. It works pretty well, although there's a slight echo through the speaker system. Also, when your phone is linked the radio isn't too cooperative; I've found that I have to disconnect the bluetooth when I receive an alert or call on the radio before I can communicate on the device. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so- is there an easy way to make use of the radio when the phone is already linked to the car?
can u download music, wallpapers, and or ringtones to the new 7250?
so...bluetooth wireless headset doesn't work with direct connect?
I have a new Lexus GX-470 with Bluetooth capability. Anyone with experience using the BB 7520 with the Lexus. Any problems.
Where can i download free ringtones for my Blackberry 7520@ please someone help me.
I bought the 7520 about a week ago...it's pretty cool. I still have a lot to learn. My questions:
1. Can anyone suggest any sites that show "short cut" menus?
2. What is the earliest year of the Acura TL that the bluetooth is compatible with?
3. I'm also looking for ringtones...is it possible on the 7520?
I noticed that when you have your headset plugged up and have the ringer on, it rings from the phone, not through the headset like my old nextel phone did (very minor).
I want this for the bluetooth, but want to turn on and off the data plan, depending on my customer at the time. Nextel says I can't do that, but they also said I couldn't move my SIM card from my i95cl to an i1000+ and use the i1000+ internationally (which I most certainly can and do). Can I use the BB without a data plan at first? I'm also tempted to wait until this gets Nextel's voice and Sprint's 224kb data links (different freqs I know, but a man can dream).
Have general questions about, or looking to purchase a Blackberry 7520? email damien.breen@nextel.blackberry.net or call 888-99NEXTEL.
You can always use a Blackberry without a data plan, but have no idea why you would want to do that. The device is huge even compared to other Blackberrys and the previous gen 7510.
Also you are allowed to switch SIM cards, the guys at Nextel are clueless.
If anyone would like their questions answered, I am a data account executive specializing in deployments of the Blackberry 7520 for Nextel. email me @ davegrant@glnextel.com or call 848-565-0514 for technical questions or to purchase handhelds. I can answer your questions about HTML browsing and how to get AIM and more....
Hi, I just got my blackberry 7520. I was just wondering how do I get AIM on it????
If you would like to use AIM on your Blackberry 7520, I suggest purchasing the application called Verichat.
www.verichat.com
It costs $35 for a 1-year license.
This is the best BB IM application out there.
i am considering the purchase of a 7520 but am concerned whether i can transfer date from my palm 3c to the blackberry. i know its compatable with outlook but have not recieved a good answer when it come to palm
My speaker turns off everytime I put it in the holster (BB 7520).
I have profiles set to default and I have turned the speaker on Phone options push to talk speaker on (and saved),
It will work until I put in back in the holster. Any ideas?

I have a bb7520 and telenavtrack for my employee tracking. Is there any way to use the two of them together so that I can track my employees in the field? Any suggestions would be helpful.
The BT250 (Bluetooth Headset) DOES work with the 7520, it just takes about a half second to initially catch up after an alert is set. When you first send a DC message you'll notice a slight delay, then after that the entire conversation is fine on the Bluetooth headset.

Don't fret about the battery life - it's not RIM's fault. All Nextel handsets have that problem. The Radio inside the handset drains standby time - and besides, wouldn't want a phone, PDA, walkie-talkie, and internet device? It's the best all-in-one gadget right now.
I have new BB 7520 through Nextel and want to set differing notificaton alerts (i.e. ring, vibrate, none) for voicemails vs. SMS text messages. There doesn't seem to be any way to do this - no separate option for voicemail exists under profiles>edit. I got the unit for the Bluetooth - was alway able to set tones for text message vs voicemail separately on Motorola phones.
does the blackberry 7520 have web access..? are you able to view web pages and see a full web page including pictures.? or is it just words?..
Yes the 7520 is capable of accessing HTML sites utilizing MDS, however you would need a BES. (Enterprise Server) If you are just a standard pop3 email user and not in a corp enviornment i.e. exchange, domino or groupwise than a BES may not be the best idea for you. However you could always have a 3rd party solution host a mail account for you and place you on their BES. This is possible.

This is how it is supposed to work. There is a chip in the holster that detects the bb7520 and disables the ringer. It enables vibrate. I think it's pretty slick. If you don't like that feature purchase an aftermarket holster.
Can I use the Blackberry to check my ISP's email (POP3) without the redirector or an enterprise server?
I like to add my e-mail in my blackberry
I'm disappointed that the 7520 only supports one phone line! With all of the great features, this is truly a disappointment. I was hoping to combine my boring work i90c with my personal Blackberry 7520.
Bluetooth first introduced in to the the Acura TL 2004 (the redesign) there is an echo to the caller on the other end regardless of phone network or brand. Yes you can reach actual web sites with all images including flash, java script, etc. Battery has been surprisingly good. Nextel's network will always eat your battery quicker than ATT Cingular, etc.
Dave A-- yes you can change notifications to an overkill type extent.
Yes you can check POP3 email w/o a BES Server or Redirector. If you do not have MS Exchange at work or home you can get an account on a shared server for I think $14.95/month.
Verichat is ggod for IM but the new software easily got me on MSN Messenger (Not sure on AIM)
I believe though one of the cool features about Verichat is you can incorporate multiple IM accounts (MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ) in to one interface.
Also, if you are driving around with this thing and have emails, IM, Web pushes, phone calls you're probably going to fly off the road w/in a week of buying. (Not kidding)
Lastly if you use Microsoft Outlook 2003, there is a very good chance that Intellisync will fail to sync with the BB. RIM is not real vocal about where to find the fix but you need Desktop Manager SP1. There is a version of this on Nextel's co-branded section of the BB site but it never completed the download. I found the same SP1 on the Blackberry.com
If you have this problem you know what I'm talking about
i have the 7520 Blacberry. Am having problems with Bluetooth wireless headsets HS 810 and HS 820. Both are pairing with device but cannot hear other person an dthey can't hear me. Anyone have similar problems and anyone who can offer advice. Blackberry themselves are stumped as are Motorola
Thanks
I own a 7520 and just bought a USB Bluetooth chip for my computer from IOGEAR. IOGEAR says I should be able to access the internet with my desk top using my 7520 Bluetooth connection. I can't seem to make it work though, and their technical department suggested I get in touch with someone with BB experience.
I recently started receiving an error message decryption error when I attempt to send or reply an e-mail. any suggestions...
how do i use my 7520 as a modem for my laptop
how do i use my 7520 as a modem for my laptop
I have the 7520, along with the TL and also a Jabra B250V. I am in love with this technology. The only thing that doesnt work well is the radio/ walkie talkie feature of the nextel. You have to turn bluetooth off on the phone before you can use the two-way. There is simply no compatability that i have found between bluetooth and the walkie talkie. Has anyone else been able to solve this?
I was told by Nextel that the 7510 and 7520 do NOT support modem because of the request of their largest customer, Uncle Sam.
Also... the modem hardware is in the phone but the firmware does not support it. I wish I wasn't stuck with Nextel. They always seem to be behind the curve on implementing new technology. It wasn't even that long since they even had BT for headsets.
I just switched from a BB to an LG 7000 on Verizon and Downloaded Voice Genesis Vemail. What a kick-ass email application. Beats the crap out of the BlackBerry. Let's you answer your email by Voice and sends a link out on the other side. No more thumb-typing for me!!!!
Someone please help me figure out how to access the profiles in the BB 7520. I bought the GN Netcom 6520 so It could work with both office and BB but its only pairing with office phone. Im thinking it is my profile settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
I just bought a BB 7520 about 3 weeks ago and I cannot for the life of me send or receive text messages with it. I'm not sure if I've missed something (I've followed all of the instructions I can find anywhere) but just no luck. Also, I am a devout mac user and I'm having some communication issues between the bb and the mac. any ideas from fellow mac users?
