Desktops, Handhelds, Laptops, Misc. Gadgets, Peripherals, Portable Audio / Video, Home Entertainment, Tablet PCs, Amazon.com: Electronics outsell books, first time ever
Amazon.com, which most people still think of as being primarily an
online bookseller, hit a milestone this past Thanksgiving weekend when sales of consumer electronics leapt ahead
of books very the first time, perhaps due to a Consumer Reports recommendationin their just-released December issue of
Amazon as the best place to buy electronic online. Top selling electronics in November were SanDisk memory cards,
Philips progressive scan DVD Players and Netgear wireless cable/DSL routers—all deeply discounted (and probably the
real reason Amazon's selling so much gear).

It's all about the "no tax" -- even Dell charges it nowadays. So, it's "no tax" and, almost always free shipping. At electronics prices -- it pays off to go Amazon. And, their return policy is usually a real good 30 days and relatively no hassle.
Once you lose the "no tax" though.....I'm not sure.
Seriously, good for Amazon. They run a great business and I enjoy seeing them succeed.
(I also enjoy my ridiculously low prices)
Its only worth buying at Amazon when they offer a real sale , not one of the bogus deals that are usually 20% over market price .
Those sales are probably the decent deals for netgear and such . I know because I bought a wireless set as well and I'm from out of the US ( had urgent need for 1 ) .
I'd be very happy if I could buy more from SCAMazon at real discount prices ..
