iPod My Photo
For a second there we thought this was gonna be some slickster offering to hack your old iPod into an iPod photo, but the folks behind iPod My Photo have stumbled onto something even more sueworthy (at least if you happen to be one of Apple's lawyers): send them in a photo and for twenty bucks, pick the background color and caption, and they'll photoshop it or something or other to make it look like one of those iconic, ubiquitous iPod advertisements. They'll even draw in an iPod if there isn't one in the picture already. They should be getting a cease & desist right…about…now.

Unbelievable....20 $

Heh I always thought my Hurricane iVan one was sue worthy but nevar got a letter:

It takes more than a crappy tutorial to do it yourself. That one requires your initial image have a white background. It uses a very rough method of selecting the shape. It shows none of the inner detail present in ipod ads. The silhouette in ipod ads is black, not white.
That said, I've not seen any other tutorials, nor have I seen any image produced by ipodmyphoto.com.
There's a better tutorial here:

Also, take a look at this religious tract!

Doubt it... free advertising for iPod.
Some blogger said it was real easy == then he tried it- take a look at this abomination! Its the iRep one in purple - he claims to know how to use Photoshop!! I think $20 is worth it when you look at this!

Yes it is free advertising but is it good advertising. Companies are strange about having there ideas and art done by someone else besides them. Trademarks are very exact. Also there is no white lines for the headphones. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT SH_ _!!
i can't believe you have to pay for it. it would have been semi-amusing if it was free.
I'd happily pay $20 but they only take PayPal - and I refuse to use that company...
Also, I find it a bit strange that they have no means of contacting them whatsoever!
Uh, yeah. No thanks, I'll spend a month learning how do it perfectly, and then do it myself for free, and put whatever I want on it without the 40 character limit.
And no, mine won't suck.
Good night.

In your post you are essentially saying that your time is worth nothing. If you take a month to learn how to make an ipod ad, will you really be doing it for "free"? It seems like people are complaining about the fee a bit much.
No, I'm not saying my time is worth nothing. Of course it's worth something. But you could say that for anything. Not everything a person does in life needs to be quantified in the way that you're suggesting. Sometimes we just do things for fun - it's not like I have to do this, so I'm not worried about "what my time is worth". Sometimes learning to do things yourself has greater benefits than having others do it.
I'm also saying that once I figure out how to do it, I can do it all I want without having to spend $20 everytime I want to make one.
Then maybe I turn around and offer my services for $10, he he.
