H2O Audio SV Mini waterproof case review
The H2O Audio SV Mini waterproof case for the iPod mini, besides looking a bit unpleasant,
sort of fails in the one thing it's actually supposed to do, i.e. waterproof your iPod mini. The reviewer took it
and the waterproof headphones just a few feet underwater and found that after submerging the unit, there were water
splotches inside the case. Anyone found a decent waterproof case for iPods that actually works?

Couldn't the splotches be due to internal condensation? Water is usually colder than the ambient air... thus, any moisture trapped withing the waterproof case would condense on the outer walls. Chances are that the case did its job reasonably well... perhaps thicker plastic would prevent the condensation though.
I've found a great waterproof ipod case, the Lilipod (http://www.lilipods.com). It works fantastic the only drawback is that you can't access the controls very easily so have a good playlist ready to go.
Who would need a waterproof case for music? The Pool cleaner?
A welder, (OSHA would like his mind on his work)
A Diver, (more air time in the tank then Battery life on an iPod)
Yes, he took it in the hottub, this is going to cause condenstation. As a diver, I can't imagine using this underwater unless it was for a self guided tour applications, such as some musuems. Plus, this case only goes 10 feet deep.
I use the Lilipod (http://www.lilipods.com) while kayaking. It's water tight, inexpensive and it floats. You can't access the iPod controls without opening the case but I've not found that to be a big drawback.
I hope there are no problems with the iRiver case from the same company...I've been looking forward to that for a while.
iRiver case
We've had people dive it to 130 feet here in San Diego
DivetTech in Grand Cayman "tested them out" last year (the iRiver one) during their "Total Submersion" rebreather event. I think they were a smidge deeper than 130 feet, though. Long deco stops suck, having an mp3 player along them might make it not-suck-as-much.
You ask who would need this other than the pool cleaner? I swim laps to work out so I think that if this is legit, it would be pretty nice to have my tunes while working out in the pool.
I heard that the otterbox for ipods works up to a depth of 1oo feet.
At less than half the price, Aquatunes has an easy to use alternative that I've been using for years for lap swimming. They come with patented waterproof earplug speakers, a belt around your waist and a design that allows for universal manipulation of dials and controls. Added bonus: it works with cassestte players, CD players, as well as MP3 units. Check them out at www.aquatunes.com
