MMCmicro, today's other new flash memory card format
And as if you needed yet one more flash memory card format, Samsung announced another one you're going to have to deal with/worry about/try not to lose called MMCmicro. Based on the MMC, or MultiMediaCard standard, MMCmicro is even smaller than RS-MMC, the mini version of MMC that's already out there (12x14x1.1mm vs. 24x18x1.4mm), and is designed for use in cellphones and smartphones. Samsung is going to start mass production of the cards, which will come in 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB flavors, early next year. Click to see a few more action shots.

How cute. I'd say this has gotten way out of hand, though.

that is great... but i think i would lose something this small and it seems that it would be so fragile to me. If i wouldn't lose it, i would drop it on my floor in my room and then step on it or roll over it with my desk chair...

wow, transporting concealed data has never been easier(and less painful)!

Enough already - give us some standardization.
I like that UCF USB one shown in the last article.

that memory card better stay with mobile. I don't want to see they sell that one for digital camera. I could lose it easy. Since I always accident drop my CF memory card for my digital camera most of time. My dang fingers!

hmm...seems similar to the t-flash cards that motorola has introduced in some of their cellphones. I guess that samsung figured that what moto can do, they can do too. sad, really... we definitely need more standardization!

It's written REGRESSION all over MMCmicro:
smaller means:
- MORE expensive
- LOWER capacity
- HIGHER prices
- LOWER speed
- LOWER total capacity (technology limits)
- INCOMPATIBILITY: you can't put millions of existing cards into these slots, that means all your SD cards from your digicam, MP3 player, PDA, moviecam, etc. will never fit in these related slots!!! Say you want to send your digicam images thru your cellphone equipped with an MMCmicro slot: you're stuck!!!
R-E-G-R-E-S-S-I-O-N!!!
Do you know how many memory cards standards there are out there? More than 20, YES MORE THAN T-W-E-N-T-Y!!!
ENOUGH!!!!
SD CARD IS SMALL ENOUGH, CHEAPER AND WITH HIGHER CAPACITIES, HIGHER TECHNOLOGY LIMITS AND FASTER!!!!
