Engadget named Best Tech Blog in the 2004 Weblog Awards
We wanted to wait until the results were finalized and all that, but it does look like Engadget scooped up the award for Best Tech Blog in the 2004 Weblog Awards. We were in good company just by being nominated, and we'd like to thank everyone who voted for us and showed us so much support.

Congrats. I hate gizmodo, I hope that this offspin buries them.
Congrats!
Go Engadget!
Congratulations, and wishes for your continued success!
Congratulations on the award.
Your readers already knew engadget was the best ;) Congrats!
Has anybody heard if/when Verizon Wireless is going to offer a Blackberry with Bluetooth capability.
I come here every hour, top of the hour.....
Hey Joe S, are you in the right blog?
who else was nominated?
Go Go Engadget!
How come the site is chock full of right wing ads?
Congratulations ! you deserved it. Glad to have voted for yall
It was close but the best blog won. Great job and killer site. I am glad I found you.
Congrats! I think that that this proves what we all learned in gradeschool: Cheaters never win, and winners never cheat. The only question now is "who are you going to wear to the award show?"
I read Engadget everyday. I for one don't require a Weblog Award to know that Engadget is the best Tech Blog. Congratulations!!
Why the Gizmodo hate? I use both sites, and they both seem pretty good. The only real difference I see is that one allows comments, the other doesn't.
I'm confused too... what is the background to the (real/imagined) rivalry between Engadget and Gizmodo? I read and enjoy both sites, but I am intrigued by the anti-Gizmodo sentiment. Anyone care to explain?
Congrats! I'm very happy that the only blog I read everyday is the best tech blog :-).
Congratulations. You guys rock. :-)
Looking forward to what you have in line for the future.

Well deserved!
Congratulations!
Thanks everyone for the kind words, I really do appreciate it, it's definitely made all the hard work worthwhile.
For the record, I was the founding editor of Gizmodo, and left in March of this year to create Engadget. The reason why is pretty simple: Gizmodo was never intended to be more than a freelance gig, and I just wanted to blog about gadgets full-time. There was nothing more to it than that, the supposed "rivalry" is incredibly overblown, especially since I think each site has its own focus and style.
Congratulations! Well deserved.
Congratulations ! you deserved it. Glad to have voted for yall
To put it simply:
"engadget is tech with class"
whereas
"gizmodo is tech with crass"
I voted for you then decided to check the latino awards, and got scared. Most of the finalist were rightwing political blogs with no comments or only 1 comment on their stories. How did they get to the finals? Is this the Republican Blog awards?
The Best Blog Award is the Rightwing Award
remember Hitler and Nazi Germany. Is ashame you are part of this Award
Give me a E, give me a N give me a G, Give me a A, Give me a D, Give me a G, give me a E, give me a T, GO Go Engadget!
Give me a E, give me a N give me a G, Give me a A, Give me a D, Give me a G, give me a E, give me a T, GO Go Engadget!
hmm congrats though me still thinks gizmodo is slightly more convenient, especially in its previous design...
i use both blogs as well as akihabara and some others, those slashdot and forgotitsname really sucks, awful design and usability - i closed it when i saw it...
the only annoying thing on gizmodo is no-comment mode - why? this sucks!!!
and i`m surprised to see u score 3 times better than them...
anyway, congrats, keep up with good work providing us the coolest and weirdest gadget news (and yeah, we want more video footage coverage, like on akihabara for instance, and some serious analytics as well)
how do you earn money if you blog full-time?:)
really, me interested, maybe email me?:)
i myself run a whole modmaking portal but not as a profitable project - just for community...
Yay Engadget!
:-)
