Sirius hooks up with NAVTEQ for real-time traffic data
It's a little bit of a me-too move since XM has already offered this to their subscribers since April, but Sirius just announced a few hours ago that they've also linked up with NAVTEQ to deliver real-time traffic data to cars over their satellite radio network. Drivers will be able to get info about stuff like congestion, accidents, road closings, but you'll have to get a new GPS-enabled in-car navigation system to take advantage of the service.

Not surprising, but a smart move. They both have had on-air traffic reports, and now they both have this. I'd only consider it "me too" if it was unnecessary. This is a legit move, IMHO.

Notice though that Sirius falls short of giving a date of when they expect this new service to roll out. Our best bet is that this won't be available for a few years at least.

Looks like Sirius won't have this for a loooong time, and since XM has a headstart on the technology I'd definitely say this is a bit of me-too move.
