Toshiba announces 80GB version of the drive found in the iPod
C'mon, you knew this was gonna happen sooner or later: Toshiba has just announced that they'll have an 80GB version of the 1.8-inch hard drive used in a certain very popular MP3 player ready to ship by Q3 of 2005. No specific announcement about how Apple will be first in line for these, of course, but let's not kid ourselves, ok?

What I want to see is a 20/40 GB version that's in the iPod Mini. Then I'm sold.
daaaaamn.
Im having a hard time filling my 20gb. BUT, if anyone is wondering what to get me for my birthday.....
(10gb of music, 70gb of hidden porn)
What will this one cost, $700?
hi,
yes, it would be very interesting if engadget guys or readers tell us where to purchase those hard drives in europe, i got one fucked up in my laptop, and nobody will sell his ipod to me...
this stuff is very hard to find in stock anywhere, i been looking for it since a year and each time i give the reference and description, people are looking at me like if i come from another planet...
Forget about the iPod. When are we getting digicams with 80GB hard drives???
Well my TiBook has an 80gb drive so I could just back up my whole damn system music and all.
Source - dabs.com (in the UK) sells laptop hard drives. They may have what you're looking for.
Pretty soon these tiny drives are going to be larger than 2.5" drives! Imagine throwing 4 of these in a laptop RAID array.
eazy mark, some of these nerds might wet their pants just thinking about it!!!!!
So will this new drive be open to the public? Can i go and buy one then install it in my own iPod, if i know how to install new drives. Will it fit into the 20Gb model?
