30-inch Kreisen LT-30FMP LCD HDTV for less than $1500
Dad always said you get what you pay for, and it seems he was right, at least when one considers the new Kreisen LT-30FMP HTDV LCD monitor. The 1280x768 display will get help get your HDTV on for a street price of only $1349, but it does carry with it some issues. Black levels are apparently pretty poor, and color accuracy can be tough to attain. In addition, viewing position is severely limited, with reported brightness drops at as little as 45-degrees off-center. In addition, the monitor isn't HDCP-compliant on its DVI input, making most modern DVI connections moot. What's more, the component input only accept 480p signals. But then again, it is a 30-inch flat panel HDTV monitor for $1349.

Can you get an adapter that will hook its input to a normal DVI one? There will probably be a quality drop if there is a way. I know you can go from the old school monitor jack to DVI with and adapter.
I bought an Olevia 30 in LCD for $999 at Micro Center and the pic, black levels, and response time are awesome.

One great thing about KREISEN is the picture quality. It's the LG-Philips panel they use + the LCD TV technology, DCTI & DLTI applied. For the money, KREISEN is the best bet. I bought this 30" for my folks and use their 27" at home. Love the design, great live personable tech support.
Some cheap LCD TVs are cheap because they compromise quality with flimsy design (like using same housing for 27" & 30", speaker cables hanging in the back, cheap low grade LCD panels, etc) With KREISEN, I'm very satisfied with my wallet situation and the beautiful LCD TV I got at such great price.
Had a friend who bought Olevia 30" but when connected with S-Video, could not get color
I was able to get 720p working with my Comcast Digital HD setbox with component cables. I am using the video option DTV on the tv and went through Scientific Atlanta's directions for setup for the setbox for HD. It was a little strange though. I put the tv on DTV and tried to follow SA's instructions for setup. The menu for setup did not show up on the DTV setting on the tv. I then put the TV on component and there was the setup menu. I went through the advanced setup and tried viewing DTV on the tv again and there it was, 720p. With the comcast remote I also have the ability to watch it normal, stretch, or zoom on DTV. So my guess is that regardless of your cable provider if you have the Scientific Atlanta digital setbox or another setbox with component feed for HD you can get 720p through the component cables as long as you set the tv viewing option to DTV. And if you have more than one device with a component output then you can add a component switchbox for between 20 and 90 dollars, depending on manufacturer. I purchased the JVC version off of ebay. ***THIS TV IS A GREAT DEAL***
