I was able to get 720p working with my Comcast Digital HD setbox with component cables. I am using the video option DTV on the tv and went through Scientific Atlanta's directions for setup for the setbox for HD. It was a little strange though. I put the tv on DTV and tried to follow SA's instructions for setup. The menu for setup did not show up on the DTV setting on the tv. I then put the TV on component and there was the setup menu. I went through the advanced setup and tried viewing DTV on the tv again and there it was, 720p. With the comcast remote I also have the ability to watch it normal, stretch, or zoom on DTV. So my guess is that regardless of your cable provider if you have the Scientific Atlanta digital setbox or another setbox with component feed for HD you can get 720p through the component cables as long as you set the tv viewing option to DTV. And if you have more than one device with a component output then you can add a component switchbox for between 20 and 90 dollars, depending on manufacturer. I purchased the JVC version off of ebay. ***THIS TV IS A GREAT DEAL***
