The curse of LCoS
Remember how nearly a year ago Intel was pimping Liquid Crystal on Silicon, or LCoS, as the next big thing for better, cheaper flat screen TVs? Sound a little familiar? No? Ok, maybe not, but a few months back they ended up delaying and then killing their line of LCoS chips, and Reuters has a little piece about how Intel became only the latest in a long string of companies like IBM, Toshiba, Philips, and HP to sink a lot of money into commercializing the technology for TVs and fail (though LCoS has found a home in plenty of projectors). We'll live, but could we all just please move on to perfecting OLED?

^^^ True indeed. JVC D-ILA rocks
Looks like a comment from a JVC rep was deleted. He basically stated that JVC has been successful with LCOS.
JVC makes a line if LCOS based TVs called the D-ILA which hasn't been nearly the abysmal failure of all the other implementations (its apparently flying off shelves).
