Orb Networks....streaming directly from your PC to your mobile is something I don't really want to PAY for. I can really already do this with a dyndns link.....besides I would probably be violating my AUP with Road Runner as your machine would be acting as a server. Sure, it makes it easier, but when the easier thing violates your ISP policies.....

When is the official Phillip Torrone "awesome" t-shirt coming out?
Z @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
About the laser... good grief, that thing burns holes though certain plastics? Great, now every idiot with a bit of cash that knows nothing about laser safety but wants one will buy one of these and start shooting people with it.
Low IQ's and powerful lasers don't mix.
Greg @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
In reference to the laser...

how does the Orb service actually display streamed videos in a web-browser? Is it a java applet or their own plugin that you have to download separetly?
pt @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
orb sending it all to windows media or real player, which is on a ton of phones, all of mine at least.
cheers,
pt

Hear, hear! regarding the official Phillip Torrone "awesome" t-shirt idea. I'd buy one.
Does anybody know the source of the "quark song" played at the end?
no worries,
steve

Is there anyway to wake up Hadley Stern from the prozac he's on? Jeez.......those messages on the podcasts are terrible! How unexcited can he be about his book and hacks?
Give the man some coffee. ;)
Cameron Reilly @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Looks like the laser has been taken off the market!!! Check out their site again.
Z @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Yes - he took the laser off the market, and good for him! Very smart move. In addition to everything else he asks for, he should also ask them for their social security number as well just for added protection.
Now we won't have to worry quite as much about some moron with too much cash and too little brain being armed with a dangerous tool.
Patrick @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Okay, which of you went out and started pointing the bitchin' lasers at planes?

Re: The Monster Lawsuits. I think they (Monster Cable) are abusing their rights under trademark law. Some of the bigger companies whom they have sue (Disney, Discovery Channel) should have stood up to them and argued that their activities were not in breach of Monster's trademark registrations and they should have challenged the validity of those registrations. Lemelson (and his licensing operation after his death) tried the same thing a few years ago arguing that Lemuelson's very broad patents (aka "submarine patents" covered pretty much every new technological advance of the 20th century. Some companies caved and settled, others fought on and won...
David @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Hey Guys, what has happened to the Podcasts? Are you going to do any more?
Cheers

Tyme @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
::Look for our CES coverage in a week and new shows in January!::
there were no new shows in january...
Vance @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Doh! Yeah, I'm missing the podcasts as well. I feel like they've gotten lazy on the podcasting ever since they won the podcast alley blog award.
Peter Rojas @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
The podcasts will return! We've just been crazy busy lately and doing a (good) podcast requires a lot of prep time and post-production. I don't want to overpromise or anything, but we're working on ways to make our podcasts easier to produce and better than ever. Once we've sorted it all out, the podcasts will be back.
Alex Meyer @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
That's a relief... How long do you think it'll be?
Gary McKnight @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Good news, cant wait for the new podcasts

Brian @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Please, try not to do _anything_ like Winer.
Steve Sizemore @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
Great! I'm looking forward to getting engadget podcasts again.
Si Brindley @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
I've also got hooked on listening to all the 'back issues'. I thought there was something wrong with my agregator to see that the podcasts stopped at the end of last year. Can't wait for them to return, they got better and better each time and I'm finding them REALLY interesting to listen to on my daily commute.
Kyo @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
I miss those podcasts you had going! Please return, Phil and Peter! I was also going to send off an e-mail, but was worried I wouldn't get a reply, so I've come here and lo and behold, there's many other people that have noticed the drought too!
So much new stuff to cover! Will you talk about the new Motorolas? Please do...
Fadda Polo @ Dec 19th 2005 2:27AM
