iCODE deliveres real estate information to cellphones
House shoppers in Windermere, Florida can now get detailed real estate listings delivered straight to their cellphones by using text messaging numbers displayed on yard signs. The service is developed by ClearSky Mobile Media and is currently on homes from Main Streat Realtors. That's kinda neat, but to really impress us they'll need to put a WiFi or Bluetooth transmitter on there. And put some LEDs on the sign. And maybe an LCD display, get some moving graphics on there and stuff. Yeah, maybe then.

How about a giant robotic realtor who walks back and forth on the lawn spewing cliches and getting huge commissions for doing fuck all?
whats up with this ithis ithat shit. It gets annoying
iDon't have an iProblem with it
It would be quick to assume that South FL has a large pop of under 25 yr olds who are tech savvy, have a cell phone, have SMS service on their plan, actually know how to SMS, and are looking to buy a home. So, I imagine this SMS service is more for the sales agent than the general home-buying consumer. The type sales agent who wants a paperless office or the other type of sales agent who never has the right data with them seems to be a good fit for this service.
Windermere is outside of orlando, so pretty far from south florida. however i doubt most old people in this community would even grasp the concept of this stuff. lots of "viejos" in central florida
This would work ... if realtors weren't the biggest bunch of luddites. Ask anyone that ever tries to sell technological products or services to realtors, and they'll tell you the nice walls they run into.
Cute product. Too bad it won't fly.
This stuff is way cooler:

fyi- tiger woods lives in windermere, fl. i don't live in florida, but i remember hearing that when he was announced at a tournament recently.
What if the SMS message had a Flash file available that played on your phone and gave you a 3D view of the house and also an interactive map of how to get there?
That is not far off.
With macromedia's new flash player lite 1.1 that allows you to play .swf's on your 3G phone, it won't be long.
One of the biggest hurdles of the SMS revolution is getting the 'tech people' over their eternal negative outlooks, and actually going out on a limb and trying a new product. This product and others like it, will get the mass public use to at least seeing the words "text this to that".
HOW ABOUT THIS?? My partners and I are developing a Real Estate Flash system where the agent inputs specific criteria for there buyer. As soon as a listing that meets those requirements hits the MLS, it is automatically sent to the agents, (and/or) buyers cell phone! This program will be up and running within 3 months!!
CELLALOT.COM will be sweeping the nation within 3 months!!! This automatic text messaging system that is connected to the MLS of Realtor.com will without a doubt give every agent a head start!! Also, think about renters and investors that want to know immediatly when a property hits the MLS. CELLALOT.COM will work for you.......
