E-Ten's M500 PPC phone
Yeah, we've never heard of E-Ten either (we're beginning to think southeast Asian governments pay their citizens to
start up ODMs and smallish electronics companies), but they just released a decent lookin' quad-band GSM Windows Mobile
PPC Phone, the M500, which has Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, an SDIO slot, 130MB flash memory, and a QVGA
display. We'll probably see it at CES, so we'll keep you posted as to whether or not it's any good (though our
instincts are telling us it's probably not).
[Thanks, skoobz]

Eten's been around for a while - they've released about 3 Pocket PC phones around here (Hong Kong) since 2 years ago and they get their stuff from some of the same OEM's as companies from Germany. Of unknown brands, Eten's been around a bit longer - not that I know much about whether the stuff's any good - the word is that it's okay, but then reliability? No idea.

I think E-Ten is a Taiwanese company, they're primarily a maker of electronic dictionaries for the chinese speaking market under their own brand. I used to have one, it was....er...functional. No idea about the phones tho.

E-Ten used to be the most famous Chinese input program for English Windows 3.x. Back in the early 90s, a lot of schools in Hong Kong taught their students how to use E-Ten.

Yeah, e-ten has been around for a long time. I've owned one, it works pretty well but the materials used felt a little cheap. I bought it because it was very small (probably the smallest) pocket pc phone available.

We have just received the first batch of the Eten M500 product from Taiwan and I have to say my first impressions have been very positive. I have always felt that previous models were a slightly inferior build quality of the XDA's and i-Mate devices, but atlast this product feels and looks good! In my honest opinion, Eten have released a product that will compete with likes of the i-Mate JAM/Mini XDA/Qtek S100! We will be releasing a number of units for independent reviews with a number of UK journalists in the next couple of weeks.
