2,000 more HD stations overnight, including Stern's Clear Channel

iBiquity Digital Corp. has signed several deals that they say will bring another 2,000 traditional AM and FM radio stations into the HD radio spectrum, bringing the total number to 2,500. HD Radio is the traditional radio world's answer to satelite radio, and it promises CD-quality sound without static along with song and artist information, just like satelite. Some of the new networks include ABC, Beasley Broadcast Group, Clear Channel Communications, and Cox Radio. Yes, Clear Channel, the people losing Stern to Sirius in a year, will be making the move to HD Radio.

Actually, Stern is leaving Infinity Broadcasting (nee CBS / Viacom).
Sounds more like Clear Channel's just covering their bases. They already own a fair portion of XM (the main reason I'd only ever consider Sirius).

CC does NOT own a "fair portion" of XM. They divested themselves and hold very little. They do not and DID not tell XM what to program. If you won't consider XM because CC owns some stock, I assume you research EVERY product you buy to see who owns stock in those companies. Doubt that happens.
As for HD radio, please remember: same limited programming (still subject to payola -- oops, it's now called a consulting fee) and COMMERCIALS that pay for the stations.
Enjoy HD. I'll enjoy my 5 XM radios.
Actually, Stern was pulled off all CC stations a few months back.
Great. Now I can get the same Usher song on 17 channels, but with perfect fidelity. What more could you ask for?
You're not far off with that comment.
CC just added a HD-2 to KIIS/LA, a Top 40 station. So what is the HD2 Channel doing? Same damn thing KIIS-1 is doing, only they have spanish jocks and are playing a "few spanish hits on the side".
Ooookay. So I get the same thing with some Jock talking in a launguage I don't understand?
And You expect me to shell 600 bucks for one of these? Rrrrrrright!
