Apple sues Think Secret for reading pages from their diary
Someone (probably Stevie J.) has gotten a little sue-happy over at Apple, because they've just filed suit against
Think Secret for dishing the dirt on that headless ~$500 Mac that is supposedly going to be announced at MacWorld next
week, along with their plans for a new suite of office software called iWork. It's not the
first suit Apple has filed in recent weeks to try and get
to the bottom of various product leaks, and the one filed against Think Secret is specifically aimed and figuring out
how they got their information (they must be dying to know who it is in the company who is passing along their trade
secrets). The suit also has the nice fringe benefit of more or less confirming that the rumors about the headless Mac
are true.
[Thanks, Hamish]

Check out thinksecret's new article on ipod flash: http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0501expo4.html
So there *is* an LCD screen. I'll trust thinksecret over "robert" any day, since their sources are so good they're getting their asses sued. Sorry robert, you're full of shit. Game over, come play again...
Sebhelyesfarku @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
"robert" is a pompous moron.

I'll start saving up my $500 now.

Gee, I wonder if it's POSSIBLE that the whole thing is one big PR sham. That ThinkSecret was actually set up by Apple to send out 'hot' news and then the subsequent lawsuits were charged to jack up the hype even further. Watch this lawsuit get dropped right after the MacExpo. It's funny how ONLY ThinkSecret is able to get a hold of these rumors, eh?

it's all a ploy...
The base unit will be $500. A keyboard, mouse, spearkers will be around $300. And what if they require you to buy an Apple display? In the end this $500 MAc will end up costing about $1500.
Itram @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Yes, the base unit can be $500, but it won't have keyboard, mouse or anything. Just remember the past, when the keyboard, monitor and such had to be bought separate. At least in Spain. I remember trying to buy a Quadra, and I had to choose the computer, then the keyboard, the monitor... well it's a bit more pc-like...
Djmutik @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
This must be true then
robert @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
just got back from apple, the headless mac is true, it is very small, very small a little bigger then an ipod photo, no screen but all the connections are all there...
saw the flash ipod, all i have to say is good luck with that one apple, there is no screen to tell you any info...ugh
travis phillips @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
the problem is that too many "front-line" associates within apple know about these things. I mean I have friends that know a "guy" within the company that tests all their new products in the testing labs, It's just crazy, the associates within the organization need to be held accoutable... Another thing to think about, does this actually cause Apple a financial lose??? NO!!! People like me and others just get hyped up over new and cool products and goto rumor sites and await the keynote speaches... No harm... No faul...

Let's hope Think Secret doesn't just roll over on this one. (Provided they're just reporting and not the ones actually working at Apple and under an NDA) Shame to see Apple getting all sue-happy trying to clean house, but it isn't that surprising.
travis phillips @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
what??? a computer that you put on your desk.. .and my $%ing mouse is bigger than it. Stupid GAY!
funnelbc @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
If what rob is saying is correct, not only will that be rather awesome, it'd be quite close to the headless pc /dock arrangement that was poo poo'd just a few days ago wouldn't it?
Joe Beirne @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Or equally likely someone at Apple has determined that lawsuits tied to trade secret leaks in the press fan the PR flames just as hard as do whisper suites at Trade Shows and pompous predictions of the success of one's imaginary future products/market position/mission from God.
If Apple _only_ sued the guys who get it right, that wouldn't be very clever now would it?
chuck @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
barely larger than an ipod photo? that's kinda impossible. you see, even if it would be possible to make a computer that small with that much power, there wouldn't be any room for a cd drive or all those ports. nice try. go lie somewhere else, please.
anthony @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Yeah, right...I seriously doubt that they will be releasing a computer the size of an iPod or even remotely close. Just got back from Apple huh? Were they having a little party and you just stopped by for a few cocktails and to check out the headless macs? Let's just say if this were true, be sure to see me as I walk down the street with said computer in hand rocking out to my headphones using a bluetooth keyboard to change tracks.
mike @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Rob.. no DVD drive.. are you fucking insane... did you mean to say.. about the same size as an iPod? A computer without an optical drive?
robert @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
no optical...blue tooth 2.0, wifi, usb and firewire, you want optical keyboard, or anything else your gonna have to buy it...$$$
