Giant International announces Tao WiFi MP3 player
We're not really sure who they are (then again, are we ever?) but Giant International introduced the Tao WiFi MP3 today, which is, you guessed it, a WiFi MP3 player. The device lets you download music from anywhere you have WiFi access (we presume you can also use a cable to speed things up a bit), not too differently than the SoniqCast Aireo (and Aireo 2, for that matter); looks like it'll only be available in one model though, 20GB for $350. But you have to give 'em props, since this seems to be one of the first MP3 players that adds an FM receiver and transmitter to the mix. The only thing we don't know is, well, what it looks like.

The Aireo ALSO had an FM receiver/transmitter. As Soniqast is actively looking for OEM partners it wouldn't surprise me if this is just an OEM'd Aireo2.

I believe there's a picture up at http://www.taolife.com/tao-main.html -- damned Flash site... but it's there.

it is the Aireo 2 product. FYI, Neuros (has been making a hard drive unit with FM transmitter for several years. They are now on their second generation. 20, 30, 40, 60 & 80 gig units. They are a little chunky but work like a charm.http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=DigitalInnovationsCatalog&category%5Fname=Neuros+Players&product%5Fid=4010301

Not wanting to hijack this thread or anything, but I've got an Aireo 1, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to replace the Aireo hard disk with a larger capacity one? If whatever's inside has bigger versions available, of course.

Ummm...they're just the highly successful company responsible for the very popular Motorola FRS long-range walkie-talkies. Of course, you guys know that Motorola licenses their name, but doesn't produce or distribute them, right?

The TAO Wi-Fi unit IS the Soniqcast Aireo 2! I got it straight from the horse's mouth (Aireo).
TAO is just marketing it with their own brand name.
