The BenQ P50 arrives next month

Dude, how long have we been waiting for this one to pop out? It's been nearly a year since we first spotted the BenQ P50 Pocket PC Phone at CeBIT, we figured it take a little while to appear, but nearly ten months later we're still waiting for BenQ's Treo clone to go on sale. Ok, well we've got some good news and some bad news: the good news is that it is all set to come out next month, the bad news is that they're planning to charge a mellow harshing $800 for it. We're still jazzed up—c'mon, it's got a mini QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, WiFi, 1.3 megapixel digital camera (with flash), and a large 2.8-inch LCD screen—but we're not quite crazy in love enough to justify dropping nearly a G on this bad boy.

800 clams???? HOLY COW! I don't really want one but I just wanted to post first!
Which will arrive first? BenQ P50 or Treo 650 GSM version?
Arrive? or come...eheheheheheheheheh!!! He said "come" heheheheheheh

is that street or suggested? Could there be hope after all?
OK guys we all have phones and most of us have data plans and bluethoot for connecting our ppc's so what is this if not a good excuse to why we drag a ppc and cam everywere....
I go mostly everywere with my cam , ppc and my ipod and got to twell you it sucks carrying all that but whenever i forget one of them i regret it
I want one !
I wonder if any carriers here would consider carrying it. Nice discount that way :)
Where did $800 come from all of sudden. It's advertised for pre-order on Expansys for US$445.95. Check out:
http://www.expansys-usa.com/
Expansys says if you pre-order and the release price is higher they will honour the pre-order price (while if it's lower they'll charge the lower price) so if you're interested it may be worthwhile to order now. But I can't figure out why Expansys has it priced at almost half of the amount quoted in this article.
my guess is that $800 is before any carrier discounts. you'll probably pay less once they announce which carriers are going to have it.
also, they should take out the $^@! camera and save us another $50-100. who decided we need crappy cameras in every uber device? until someone can put 4 or 5MP cameras in a phone (at a reasonable cost), i have no interest in a camera-phone.
Anyone know what carriers are going to carry this thing? Looks kick ass.
The P910a is about the same price. Awesome hardware costs money.
I have been waiting for this phone since it was announced and eagerly checking engadget everyday for the news of its arrival. I would pay up to $550 for it, but $800?! I would rather get a treo and do the wifi driver hack. Maybe just wait for something like this with a hard drive. I'd pay $800 if it also had video in and out, 20 gig hard drive, and a 5 mega pixel camera. I'll pay everything I have if they could fit this device in my brain, or a whole lot if they could fit it in a pair of glasses. Maybe I'll have to wait a while....
The post about expansys honoring the presale price is incorrect. I quote from their terms page;
" 6.3 Prices on orders for out-of-stock or pre-release items are valid for one week after the order is placed. If the price changes when stock becomes available customers will be informed of the change before payment is processed and offered the opportunity to cancel the order. "
We need pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures please engadget. Make me happy and post some new pics
expansys just dropped their preorder price 3 dollars, why would they do this if it is actually so much higher?
Is it really as super thin as it looks?
Any word of an expansion slot (i.e. SDIO, CF, etc) for this? For $800 I hope so.
Hi, I'm from Portugal and I also pre-order it in expansys.pt (€ 964.95).
I think the price is too much for the Treo 650. I'm going to cancel it and buy a Windows pocket based phone. Fu... the design, and java programing capabilities, and shi..ty cameras.
I hope people at Palm read this.
Bye
PS: I hope everybody do the same to bring prices down
