Sony intros 4GB Memory Stick PRO

Check it, you've got until March to save up nine hundred bucks for Sony's new high speed 4GB Memory Stick, ok?

By July, it'll probably be 200 bucks. I remember when 1Gig cards were around 300 bucks. Now you could get em for around 50 a pop w/ rebate.
It should be noted that the lowest price online right now for the 2GB Sandisk version is only $259. I don't see how that math adds up.

Perfect Timing! Duo Pro for Sony PSP 512Mb is about $125 and you'll need about 1G for a full lenght movie...
This won't work on the PSP. It needs Memory Stick Duo Pro. This does not say Duo on it and looks bigger than the Duo products.
Why does Sony fracture their own market with various products that have a similiar name but don't play nice together?
psp needs pro duo so this won't fit there right
Wow; memory stick in general is super expensive. I'm good with the SD format; 2gb his speed card only 176.00
Man; an Ipod 20gb only costs 299.00; it's nice they went 4gb; but they have to catch up to the consumer!
Core technology for Duo Pro and Pro is the same - differences in just the external interfaces and packaging and application.
is there any kind od adapter to make pro duo port work with other kinds of storage like the pro or sd ?
Damn thats a shame,so my magicgate pro sticks, from my cybershot camrea are not going to fit a psp?.People on other fourms, have said they will fit. I wasnt to sure to belive them, as they look quite abit longer in images ive seen of the duo stick.

Its really disapointing that this wont work on the PSP. I would have defo bought a psp if it had a hard drive. I mean the thing is awsome but it has no HD. That seems like a major mess up on sonys part. At least the memory card should be 5 gigs....whats the point in having these awsome features like vids and mp3s if there is no space. Realisticaly no one is going to by special psp movies, they are kidding themselves if they think thats going to take off. Anyone know if there will ever be a bigger memory stick for the psp. Do they even have a 2gb one out yet?

My psp usb port will not work with windows xp either I have psp in usb mode and i have the momory stick in but my computer says windows does not recognize it. It also says when i click on troubleshooting that there is no driver so i can not work it. plz help

In response to #23....I have similar problem...Computer will not find PSP when I first look for it under DEVICES WITH REMOVABLE STORAGE under MY COMPUTER. If I back out of it, and try it again, it always finds it on the second attempt. Not sure what the deal is. I also use Windows XP. Everything works great once it finds it. I didn't need any special drivers or anything.
Evin there is 2 gig memory stick pro duo for the psp already. Some does come with an adapter for use with cams. the adapter is bigger like a MemStick pro, so you insert the duo in the back or something and then you insert the adapter with the DUO inside in the cam. and that's it. I hope you understand.

Have both a Sony camera - memory stick pro
PSP - memory stick pro DUO
Adapter lets you use the DUO in the camera but size restricts the use of the pro to the camera only - too big for the PSP.
Pretty much sucks that they have the diff formats. Most short movies (2hrs or less) can fit on the 1 gb duo for playback on the PSP but anything longer will need the 2 gb which is too much $$$ for me right now.
The bummer is I have a dell X50v pda which uses Compact Flash (Yes I like gadgets) and I can pick up a 4GB CF for $200.
Why can't we all just get along with the same format?
On another note I saw something called a microdrive which looks like a mini-harddrive that fits in the space of a CF card. Anyone know anything about it?

$900 is rediculous! 2gb memory sticks go as low as $120 on ebay at the moment. I'd love a 4gb stick as soon as the price drops.

you can get the 4gb HD & battery kit from Datel for half the price of the 2gb DUO stick. Plus you can also upgrade that HD to an 8gb (seagate makes an 8gb that can be found for as low as $100 in the net).
