Pentax @ CES - The OptioWP
Wrote about this one when they announced it on Tuesday, but we managed to get hands-on (it's crazy how many gadgets are around right now) with the OptioWP, Pentax's new waterproof five megapixel digital camera that's just 22mm thick and comes with a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.0-inch LCD screen around the back. Just about the best-looking underwater camera we've seen.

so... when is the underwater test of the product?
But how waterproof is it? Looks like it can't be more than 10 ft or so, which is not all that useful for some of us.
How good does it work under water, or is it simply a splashproof camera?
"OptioWP is certified as a "JIS Class 8" camera - meaning it can actually be used to shoot photos up to three feet underwater for durations up to thirty minutes, without the need for a separate underwater housing."

It says 3 feet in the text but lower in the stats it says 4.9 feet. So this thing is kiddie pool safe but don't expect to take it scuba diving or even snorkeling. That did expect much but 10-15 feet would have been nice.
Wonder how the mic works underwater.. Can't wait to add comments to my shots on the spot.
