Samsung @ CES - The YH-J70 MPEG4 Jukebox
Hmmm … the pics for this didn't turn out so hot (all the sleep deprivation is making us jittery or something), but we didn't want wait to post a little something something about the YH-J70, a new portable media player that Samsung was showing off at their booth. It's not due out for a while, and they wouldn't tell us anything about how much it might cost or when it might come out, but we do know that it has a 20GB hard drive, support for playback of MPEG-4 video files and OGG, MP3, WMA, and Audible audio files, a 1.8-inch, 260,000 color LCD screen (which depending on how you feel about these things may or may not be too small to actually watch anything), USB host, some sort of vague "Game functionality", and a battery life of 30 hours (which sounds like it applies to music, not video).

1.8 inch screen, give me a break
Samsung decides to jump on the portable video player bandwagon, eh? It's interesting how most of the new ones; Creative, iRiver, etc don't have direct recording. For now I'll stick with Archos as the top PVR. I own the RCA Lyra but it fell short of expectations with lagging firmware updates and RCA's decision to not really support it. I hope more companies will introduce better PVRs this CES.
Samsung just floods the market with models with great looks but sloppy firmware ,also it fails to upgrade the firmware leaving the consumers high and dry.
You are right , Samsung does not play responsible in not upgrading the firmware for their products .Also it mostly it does not deliver what is promises .I had a bad experience with their YH-920GS mp3 player(US version)
Just received the YH-J70. The player shuts down after 5 instead of 25 hours of audioplay.
Settings are all low (display turns off at 3 secs for example).
It seems that the YH-920GS plays 8 hours, who knows they put in the wrong battery in my YH-J70?
If I read the earlier posts about Samsung not upgrading their firmware, I don't think it's such a good idea to keep the player and will return it asap.
The achilles heel of these HD players with built in battery is that they seem disposable devices to me. Built in Batteries of Cell phones die within 2 years. So I take it that this will be the case with these devices as well!! A waste of money.
where is this mp3 player available?

i think it looks like a pretty good player, will read a few reviews 1st tho
I have buy one. Time playing music vary with utilisation. Jogging, it will play approximately 8 hours, and playing music without shacking it, will plays for more than 14 hours. Turning on and off often reduces battery life.
Samsung France tell it have kinetic navigation, but it don't work with mine, has anyone succeeded with it ?
How can I check if G-Sensor works properly ?
im so fuckin pissed off with this product... second one i got... and the usb fucked itself for the 2nd time.. the battery was low when i was puttin songs on it so it shut off while i was puttin them on now everytime i go to load more songs on they dont go on.... blaaaah
I own this player for a month now, I'm very satisfied. The battery last 23 hours playing music and 4,5 hours playing video. The charging time is 3 hours.
There is new firmware, two different ones already.
The sound is very good and the videoscreen is of good quality, I watch movies on it. It can store over 70 movies! After converting, a movie is less then 300MB.
The navigation is easy, it's very userfriendly.
just got the YHJ70 and the device was not recognized by my PC. too bad that i bought this one overseas thus have to stick with it. please help me, what should i do? thanks
I've had a YH-J70 for a few months but only had the time to try movies recently. Everytime i try and export/convert a film, it says i do not have the right codec, and i doesnt recognise the right audio wave format, ive download lots of different codecs but nothings working! whats codecs is everyone else using, i have divX, Xvid, real media codec. The film plays with sound in nero, but it plays with no sound in the samsung multimedia programme
any ideas????
