Yeah, a lot of this is marketing. I think the competitors that are crying fowl should actually get people that know how to market a product. "Build it and they will come" just doesn't work.
Apple ads get to the mass media on a fairly regular basis. I don't remember a single TV ad for a Creative or any other brand player. The only ad I've seen is a billboard for the Zen micro. The noted Muvo slim is $100 to $120 for 256MB capacity, about $20 more for 512MB, and is twice as wide. BTW: Whoever said Muvo slim doesn't have a USB2 port is wrong, there is a miniUSB connector on the left edge right next to the headphone jack, but it requires having that cable along if you want to transfer files to someone's computer.
