iPSP Mac sync for your PSP
Remember how we did a little
How-To last month detailing how to get videos onto your
Sony Playstation Portable
(PSP)? Well, that tutorial was for PC users only, and
since we know not everyone swings that way we figured we'd pass along the news that there's now an application for all
you Mac people out there called iPSP. Besides converting videos for playback on your PSP, iPSP also automatically backs
up your game saves, integrates with your iTunes music, and syncs your iPhoto photos as well.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this one in]

I am so very happy now! I don't have a PSP yet but I will get one in March (if that is the release date here) Does anyone know if this works? Let us know.
I've been using it since release 1.0 and it does great. Queue up a handful of videos overnight and it'll process them to be ready to sync to your PSP. 1.1 is a nice improvement as it offers some much needed configuration and supports multiple playlists and photo albums. It definitely has a Mac feel to it by keeping it simple. And the price isn't bad either - considering it's all in English (or Japanese if needed) and plug & play. Check out the demo - you don't need a PSP to test out the encoding features.
This is CRAP.
Why iPhoto? You're telling me that I would now have to bring all my photos over to iPhoto and sync them from there, when I have never used iPhoto?
Sure I use iTunes, but that's besides the point.
The video conversion would probably be the only thing I use here for my PSP.
But then again, with the limited capacities on the Memory Sticks and the EXHORBITANT cost of the Memory Stick, who would really bother to try to play back any movies on the PSP?
I'll just stick to playing games on it - until they come out with recordable UMDs....... I know I'm dreaming.......
Does anyone really care about the PSP? The feature set seems really poor with shitty MP3 features and only 320x240 video playback.
Yuck
Bollocks -
You call it crap, but it seems you have never used it. If not iPhoto, how would you have the user get his/her photos to the PSP? Search every jpeg/gif on the mac and have the user choose which pics they want transferred? Doesn`t seem too convenient.
I have actually used the software, and it is amazingly useful. I can sync my photos, music, and videos in less than 10% the time it would take me to do on windows.
Next time, try the product before leaving worthless criticism.
i wish there was something like this for nokia's symbian phones. isync just doesn't hack it (besides, it doesn't support the newest phones..). anyone know a solution, esp. syncing itunes.. let me know.
This is THE swiss army knife software I've been looking for.
I have been using IPSP for a few days now trying to convert movie files for when the PSP is released here. It seems to give me an error message on every file I transfer and the audio hasn't been in sync with the video. The customer support is very prompt and responsive for such issues though. The video quality looks excellent. Can't wait till they fix the bugs. Has anyone else had audio sync issues?

iPSP is Buggy. Crashes and cannot transfer music from my iBook to PSP. PSPWare also did not sych music... but it managed to get my photos from iPhoto.
I never used iPhoto before in my life either, but it took me 1 minute to create an album, drag pictrues into it, and sych with PSPWare.
iPSP is buggy. It always fails at last minute converting. And when you start it up, it gives the register message. I fin if I click that too quickly, the program crashes. I bet it only works if you pay for it. I'll stick with ffmpegx thanks.
iPSP works for the most part, sometimes buggy. I did register it. I had one or two crashes in the 10 conversions I did, but it's working pretty well with 10.4. I find it to be worth the registration fee, and the video quality is excellent.
Ok, Mac heads, iPhoto is not needed to transfer photos into PSP my son and I moved our jpeg into a created folder. Just be careful of the size of the jpg. Use a photo program to reduce the size (400 x 250 approx.) I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 to reduce. Movies can be saved in QuickTime format. We will try iPSP on the desktop G3 blue and white and give the results.

to 'ac': sounds like you are looking for a way to run an iPhoto slideshow on your pc (?) Convert it to Quicktime. That will run on your Windows machine. (For details, check out the iLife Missing Manual.)
