Latest webcam trojan author behind bars
Okay, so Tic-Tac isn't the first P2P-distributed trojan (of course), nor is it the only one that swipes up network resources, bags keylogging, and repropagates. But at least it's the first that grants the virus master the ability to control the infected users' webcams, right? Oh, wait, nevermind. And still, we can't possibly imagine what kind of virus author would think they would have the requisite time to parse useful information from tens of thousands of infected webcams, but the Madrid-based author is apparently now behind bars, and will have more than enough time to ponder the folly of his scheme. Perhaps a fitting punishment might be to affix a publicly accessible webcam on his cell? But don't think we're out of the woods yet; PC World reports that no commercial virus scanners yet have fixes for this bug, so you may want to disrobe in the bathroom until you're extra sure. Unless you're the type who likes undressing in front of active webcams.

Of course the trojan/virus had nothing to do with Macs and therefore with the iSight camera, right?
You guys and your clip art...
SubSeven (a trojan horse) was this first piece of malware I can remember that allowed you to activate a users webcam...
Just what i was about to say , i used to use sub 7 on my two computer in my local network and it worked great. I even used it as remote desktop software.
yeah, the isight icon is misleading.
Here's the real story. The virus writers entice script kiddies to spread their stuff by including webcam monitoring software. They in return get zombie machines which can be controlled/sold to interested parties. Intesresting stuff !!!
Foul!
I'm pretty sure Back Oriface could control a webcam on windows 98.
