The PSP Starter Bundle

They're very careful to note that neither the final price nor the ship date for this has been confirmed yet, but
EBGames is taking pre-orders for a $399 PSP Starter Bundle that includes a
PlayStation Portable Console, "one PSP accessory" (which
isn't specified), and three games of your choice from the list of launch titles (tentative launch date: March 29th).
Sony hasn't said what the retail price for the PSP is going to be yet, but it's expected to be somewhere around $200,
right? That means if you buy the Starter Bundle you'd be shelling out another two hundred bucks for three games and an
accessory. Unless that's a really sweet (read: pricey) accessory they're tossing in there, this doesn't exactly sound
like that amazing of a deal, does it?

It's probably the starter pack released in Japan, no? The games are retailing for $49.99 and the pack with the memory stick and whatever else was $50 more over there, so I think it adds up, assuming the system is going to be $200. EB has been allowing people to put however much they want on the system for a few weeks now, up to $435, btw.
If you don't want to shell out the much money for the eb games bundles, remember that gamestop has been taking in-store preorders with $50 down for about a month now. You don't have to buy anything extra, so there's no chance of getting stuck with a couple of lousy games you don'treally want.

I guess you can get 2 Nintendo DS's and 3-4 games for the price of a single PSP Starter Bundle.
Games were the equivalent of US$35-50 a couple weeks ago in Japan. I think $50 is a bit high, but after playing ridge racer and a few other games it may be worth it.
