The iPod Holder
Eric Friedberg sent in a photo of his patented iPod Holder, an electrical outlet cover with a bay for holding your iPod (or whatever other gadget you can fit in there) while you're charging it.

you know, that looks like one of thoes old mouse holders that would go on the side of a moniter or whereever. we had one way back in the day.
It just plugs into it or it plugs into the outlet AND charges it?
not a bad idea considering that i usually have to strategically snake the cord around my chair in a way that my cat doesn't think it's a piece of string for her amusement. I'm hoping there's an opening at the bottom though (where the dock connector is), considering that i need the cord from the plug and NOT from my headphones to actually reach the outlet.
Maybe you have seen this? I swear by it.

Purchasing one ASAP. Thanks. It will look pretty cool on my desk at work :)
Perfect if you have AirTunes! When your computer is off, drop you iPod into the holder and connect the audio directly to the AirTunes receiver.
I'm thinking this looks like a Black & Decker Dustbuster vacuum cradle.
Seriously, it's nice to see attention (finally) being paid to making the recharging process slightly more convenient. The proliferation of adapters and devices on my kitchen counter has gotten completely out of hand in recent years.
Anything that cleans it up - even a bit, and even if it looks like an old mouse holder - is a good thing.

Stephen, what does *airtunes* have to do with anything if your Mac is off? Wouldn't you just connect your ipod's audio to the stereo's audio-in directly?
Don't you just mean: "Perfect if you have a stereo!"
...because we're too lazy to reach the floor and place it down there.
keep the backlight on and it doubles as a nightlight!
keep the backlight on and it doubles as a nightlight!
thats gay
Nice, but does he have a model that fits an iPod equipped with iPod Armor?
You could also use it as a fork holder for when you feel especially suicidal.
Yes, but can it double as a pocket protector?
Look like a mouse holder hot-glued to the side of a wall outlet.
There isn't any indication of it being anything else.
Maybe if you hot glued a digital clock, or some baby's breath or something on there is would have gotten more creativity points.
This one gets an "attaching things to other things" award.
I cannot believe some people actually posted that this is a good thing. My god--how can people with such horrible taste exist? This is cheese ca. 1989, and I wouldn't buy such straight from the slums of Tawain cheap plastic to save my life.
people really are clutching to the iPod bandwagon. this story is nothing, see comment #1
These were available on Boston craigslist for $6 each. I don't know if it's the same guy.
That's wicked. I could definitely use that for my blackberry as well. It's always hanging off the coffee-table while it charges and I worry my cat is going to pull it onto the floor. Or I'll spill my morning coffee on it -- one or the other.
Does he realize that the power cord plugs into the bottom of the iPod, not the top?
The power cord plugs into the top of the iPod if you own a first or second generation model. If you own one of the later ones you already have a dock to charge the thing in. This seems largely aimed at those of us who bought ours in the distant, distant past (i.e. 2 years ago).
This is B.S.... this has been on the Boston craigslist. Not designed for an Ipod (how do you recharge it at the same time?) and just dumb looking.
the ipod holder does have a hole in the bottom so u can charge it
they need to make one where it plugs into an outlet and then the ipod charges via a direct connection in the holder...eliminating all wires
