This may officially mark the tipping point: an artist in Maryland has created the "1K Brix" PodBrix Minifig, a line
of "limited-edition" modified Lego figures designed to look like they're from one of those iPod silhouette ads.
So aparently it *is* true. People really will buy anything. Stay tuned for my iBrick. I take a brick, and paint it white. And it can be yours for the low low price of just $599.95 (also available on HSN).
"I'd almost guarantee it's illegal to resell Legos you bought buddy, good luck with that one"
So everything we buy is supposed to be stored in closets/garages/bagsofcrap? Garage sales are now illegal because you are reselling things you bought? Doubt it. Those little dudes look sweet. I wouldn't BUY one.... but I do have some black paint and some legos.
**LEGO and the LEGO logo are trademarks of The LEGO Group.
**bagofcrap is probably a trademark of Woot.com.
**the terms "closets", "garages", and "black paint" are rather generic words and are most likely NOT trademarks.
Go capitalism! Reselling Lego at an impressive markup is not illegal. Infringing upon trademarks is where he might get in trouble, but it looks like he was careful and the courts do allow for artistic expression.
(If you want to make one of these, just go find an old castle Lego set with a ghost since the minifigure inside is all black Lego,

if you visit the site, mr. green, you will be told that these are works of art, not toys; from the site "Keep in mind that each figure is a unique mini work of art. This is not a toy and can certainly be damaged if not handled with care.". So play at your own risk.
Also, these aren't just lego figures, but instead the lego is only the starting point, the artist then will "modify it by hand to create the desired appearance. Each one is slightly different."
Think I will go with Mr. Preseau on this one, kinda neat looking, but if I really want one I'll make my own. I can guarantee you each of mine will be looking unique, because I don't paint so well.
I could build my own, but the only piece I can't figure out how to get are the headphones. Anyone know which set had that piece? Or did the 'artist' create it somehow?

Well, yes, I do see a point with some sort of lawsuit problem, but hopefully the maker had copyright and trademark clearance first just to be on the safe side. It would be such a shame if the person was shut down for that.
And as a side note: if people are willing to buy something like this, then hey, more power to the creator for coming up with the idea. Who knows, for the Apple and iPod obsessed it may become a collector's item.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

I hope this guy has more money in the law suit pot than the fella running think secret!

I think this is cool! I imagine if he tries to sell them for much $$$ though, Apple and Lego may both come after him...
We must start brainstorming on the combination of dollar sign in Apple
Apple $tuff,
Ipod $huffle,
G$
He's already sold 300 of them for 17 bucks a pop. I'd almost guarantee it's illegal to resell Legos you bought buddy, good luck with that one.

Good grief! People have too much disposable income.
