The RAZRberry is real! Motorola working on RAZR thin version of the MPx
We already knew they were working on this back in November courtesy of a source within the company, but now it's official: In an interview with Reuters yesterday, Motorola CEO Ed Zander revealed that he's been showing analysts and customers a superslim, RAZR-style version of the MPx (which still isn't out here) that will run on Windows Mobile and sport a QWERTY keyboard. Won't be out until the second half of this year (if we're lucky), but we can wait. Maybe. Given how long it's taken them to get the MPx out, we're not going to be at all surprised if the RAZRberry (which is the internal codename for the phone according to our source) doesn't get introduced until sometime early next year.

oh great! I serioulsy hope they do a better job that the MPx. I have a test model. It's GREAT, but lacks memory, speed and even a decent camera. Moto will sell off all the 'old' (yes they do feel a bit old) MPx's, as they got rid of the manufacturer, then 're-sting' everyone (like me) with a RAZrberry :)
There's alot wrong with the MPx, but the concept is great. Just a shame we all have to wait so long: http://www.flickr.com/photos/camoby/tags/mpx/
... or the year after that!

Thats great but we need pictures!!! If a prototype is being shown at 3GSM someone must have a picture??? Its not as if there wont be a few camera phones there ;-)
OK now I'm holding off on getting the MPx in lieu of this. Surely they can do better than the travesty that was the 32MB equipped MPx, can they?
Maybe this is why the MPX wasn't launched in the US. If they have a RAZRBerry ready for the second half, and all the issues with the MPX, why not just kill the US launch of the MPX in favor of the RAZRBerry.
Well the problem never really seemed to be the thickness of this device anyone. Rather it's:
1) Runs Windows Mobile...sorry, just don't want my phone to be slow and buggy;
2) Length and width. It's kind of a monster in that respect;
3) Lack of memory.
You can always count on people with competing device's names in their usernames for objective analysis. Why are these boards so totally fanboyant, anyway? Are gadget weblogs really something that the kids are into these days. I'da thought there'd be more folks who paid attention to say, the product, rather than the label around here. But no. Apple rul3z, Apple sux0rz, Windows, Mac, Linux, whatever...it's a 24-hour nerdfight.
Anyway...
Treo007, the MPx (and RAZRberry) are for people who either like or don't care about WinMobile. The Treo is for people who do. As they say in the biz -- those are features, not bugs.
I have the mpx also and I can not agree More ! It is NOT ready for Prime Time, it locks up, is SLOW, and does not have enough memory to be useful. I have tried to contact moto to give them feed back but they do not want to listen.
im waiting for a phone with a dvorak kb...i am liking that dual hinge thing a LOT, though.
