Logic3's i-Station reviewed
It takes a lot for an iPod speaker
system to stand out from the crowd these days, but iPodlounge says Logic3's i-Station Portable Speaker System does
just that. For one thing, it's the first portable system to include a subwoofer (that's the thing folded down at the
back). It can also accomodate every iPod, even the
Shuffle, and recharge
Dock Connector-equipped iPods. But the best part is that while the list price on this
thing is around $150, apparently you can find it for closer
to $85 at most retailers. We can dig that.

Hmmmm... from the review:
"Like too many of the other portable and quasi-portable systems weve tested, the i-Station rates a B+ - a grade that reflects the compromise nature of so many of these options; they all have advantages and disadvantages that fairly equate to their closest rivals."
Doesn't sound like they're saying it "stands out" to me.

Cheap price point + tiny speakers + zero stereo separation + fancy blue leds. Ugh.

All iPods?? Those of us who still have the 'retro' first generation ipods could sometimes feel forgotten. We don't have the slot on the base of the ipod, but the ye-old firewire port on the top.

it can take the first gen iPod. the base has removable plates, one of which is a non dock connector flat plate. it comes with a 1/8th to 1/8th cord to run from the headphone to the AUX in on the back.

I just got the logic3 istation and i have to say - that for the price, and for what it is; this is a very good product.
Retailing for close to 40 in the UK (yes you can find it that cheaply) - The sound quality is very good for all types of music at most sound levels. Only at the highest volume settings is there any distortion. This item doesnt claim to be a Bose quality sound system, and at a huge difference in price of 200 - i think this does the job very well.
If what you're looking for is a top of the line hi-fi with great speakers - then stop complaining about the budget items and just go out and buy a hi-fi (preferably made from separates) - Spend a few hunded pounds on good speakers, and plug your ipod docking station into it.
For the NORMAL person tho - the logic3 istation does the job very well and at an amazing price. BTW although pictures of it look hella tacky - out of the box, it actually looks good.

I had an issue playing disco (yes, disco) and from time to time would have little periods of silence, as if the iStation was buffering and waiting.....annoying. Has anyone else run into this? It's definitely not my ipod, as I play it through my home stereos using the headphone jack to the inputs and NO problems.
