FANTASTIC idea! But then, would it still need the internal battery?

If it could use the turning wheels of the tape drive to make enough electricity, then it would have no need for the battery. However, if it couldn't make enough, it might still be useful in extending the play-hours of the battery. (But would still require an external charger then.)
