The Eva Solo kitchen timer we've gotta have
No, it's not the latest version of Griffin Technology's PowerMate. It's a magnetic kitchen timer from Eva Solo that
you can stick on your oven or fridge. It's Danish (natch) and is just so retro and analog that it almost makes us wish
we cooked so we'd have an excuse to buy one (guess we'll just have to settle for the PowerMate).

I'm glad you mentioned Griffin: they've obviously influenced industrial designers with their cool take on USB-based controllers.
Anyone who believes the commoditization of hardware leaves no room for innovation need only look through Griffin's product catalog. And Apple's too, for that matter.

Someone needs to teach these design shops how to design a "Order Now" button.

from the MoCoLoCo site: The rubber element is the protective backing that prevents scratches and marks on those stainless steel surfaces."
not scratching those hip stainless steel surfaces is a good idea, since it's non-magnetic, and will slide right off -doh!

it can damage horazontal stainlkess steal surfaces with all the fury of a paperwieght.

So don't they realize magnets won't stick to stainless steel?
Eion Murdock @ Dec 19th 2005 1:38AM
Maybe they realize that a reasonably powerful magnet will *gasp* stick to stainless steel through a thin layer of rubber. Those crafty designers...

Not exactly a gadget, I guess, but Eva is also exporting one of the nicest direct brew coffee systems that one can buy. It's called the Eva Solo. Glass, stainless, rubber and a very cool neoprene wetsuit for insulation and easy pouring. There are reviews, links and more up on www.coffeegeek.com. Take a look.

I bought one on Saturday at the NK in Stockholm. It's nice. http://mlowry.blogspot.com/2005/08/eva-solo-kitchen-timer.html
