Dell to continue excluding AMD chips
Normally it isn't that big of news when a company announces that, no, theye're not doing anything different—but when it's a company as big as Dell, and they announce that they are calling off any talk of switching their product lines over to finally include AMD chips… well, sure, it's a big win for Intel and all, but it's a far greater loss for AMD. A company whose products perform so well and at such an amazing price point might finally have received the ultimate brand-boosting validation, yet they remain locked out of one of the hugest consumer chip contracts ever. Either way, it means that even though Dell and Intel were able to work it out this time, maybe Dell won't be monogamous with Intel exclusively forever.

No gapless playback? Paperweight.
And thats why I bought an HP not a dell
Great for other companies. They get to sell a better system than Dell can ever offer. More and more corporate customers switch over to Opteron servers and Athlon Desktops. Our company I work for has switched all workstations and servers to AMD base systems. Number one reason was the interoperability of the driver architecture used with the Nvidia chip sets. Second the price - power ratio compared to Intel systems. (TCO)
what the HELL does this mean?: "No gapless playback? Paperweight." it's on every post!
AMD and Dell both break off their big negotiations, and they both get lots of PR spin in the process.
That's another few mil of advertising that neither company needs to buy.
Switching gears, when Dell decides it's in its best interests to include AMD as an option in its hardware, it will do so. Until then, it's a non-issue for the rest of us because we can still buy AMD from pretty much any other vendor.

This is not news. Like you said, normally it's not news when a company announces that they aren't going to make a change. This applies for Dell as well.
#6,
i thought it was pretty funny. i'm guessing they are talking about how there seems to be 1000 (or maybe 10) people who want gapless playback on their iPod:

of course, this has nothing to do with this entry, which is why i laughed when i read it.
I think Pootie is still stuck on the Ipod news from yesterday. It did make me laugh though.
Dell will never be monogomous with any vendor on the parts or logistics side. That is why they can sell for so cheap. It is all the dollars... lowest price and marketability. Joe Consumer doesn't know who AMD is. They know the Intel space suits, etc and I'm sure Intel's sales rep will be taking a cut in bonus because of the negotiated drop in product cost there surely is via talks with AMD. If AMD gets some space suits or blue guys or a big red dog named Clifford so Joe knows who they are, they'll sell some to Dell.
Man, #3 had me cracking up for a few minutes. I'm getting sick of the little whiny iPod babies.
I laughed very hard out loud and everyone in the office thought I was crazy. I am the IT guy here so little do they know how much i own them.... peons....muuuwhhahhwha
Ahh... sweet, sweet laughter.
My work here is done.

Wow, you sure have a knack for stating the obvious Admiral Ackbar.
