Omron develops face-recognition software for cellphones
Japan's Omron Corp. has developed a face-recognition system for camera phones. The idea is that you can snap your own picture and feed it into the software, thereby locking your phone and making it useless to thieves (or anyone else, unless you've got a twin). The biometric software can be installed on a range of cellphone systems and reportedly has an accuracy rate of over 99%. For the average cellphone user, it's probably a bit of overkill, but the software can be adapted to other devices, including camera-equipped laptops and PDAs.

What if someone steals your phone AND severs your head? Then what are you going to do?
