It's our birthday, and we're giving you the presents

Hey, it's our first birthday today and to celebrate we're having our biggest giveaway ever. Here are all the prizes:

A year's worth of Vonage's broadband telephone service.

Five 250 CD-to-MP3 conversion packages courtesy of RipDigital.
From Lexar, two of their brand spanking new 1GB JumpDrive Expression USB flash
drives.

And the biggie, a Treo 650 from Cingular courtesy of the folks at
ImportGSM.com.
Winning one of these fine prizes is easy: just tell us what's your favorite Engadget post of the past year. It can be anything, a regular post, an interview, a how-to, a review, or whatever, just paste up a link to it along with a couple of lines about why it's your fave and we'll pick nine winners at random from among the entries (and it'll be random who gets which prize). You have until noon on Sunday to enter, ok? Oh, and you can't enter more than once, and as usual, prizes can only be awarded to American residents. Good luck and happy birthday to us!
UPDATE: Contest closed! Thanks to everyone who entered, we'll announce the winners later this week.

I'll go with the Voom article.

I had been contemplating about getting the service, but when I saw this I figured it wasn't such a great idea to subscribe to a dying service.
Thanks for all the posts over the last year, it's one of the few sites that I visit and read every day, without fail.
Happy Birthday Engadget! May your next year of existence be fruitful and nerdy!
Anyway, here's a link to what I believe to be the absolute hottest Pocket PC smartphone I have ever seen in my life. Hot DAMN this looks sweet. Yep, you guessed it: the HTC/T-Mobile MDA IV.

My fav was the "Whats on your thumb drive?" post because it gave me a ton of things to put on my flash drive.
Engadget by RSS Rocks! Nerdy news 24/7! My fav post was fairly recent, the Couch Tormenator. I would have loved to have had this 15 years ago to drive my sisters crazy with...

My favorite goes back to soon after I learned about your site:

Yeah! USB flash drives could be silly!
Everybody, hold on.
Their birthday isn't today. It was, in fact, yesterday. Their first post was detailing what they are doing, their schtick. This post can be viewed at any time by clicking here: http://www.engadget.com/entry/8817026470303347/
It's their first post to their blog, regardless of whether it was specifically gadget-related. That's my favorite post because it goes back in time, the gestation period before their birth.

The sheer amount of effort undertaken to view a video on an iPod photo using the clickwheel. Classic geek stuff. Great article.

Happy birthday! This post from Nov 16 was great -- presenting with PowerPoint using an iPod photo really makes people's heads turn.
Favorite story: the review of the PSP. This will be my very first portable gaming system and so far i'm loving the features!!

my favorite post of the year was:
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000930027824/
the how-to on using a CDMA phone as a USB modem was a great, expremely helpful post. And its nice being able to do what the cell phone companies don't want you to do.
this my favorite because I love free stuff
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000573034243/
My favorite engadet posting is the one about Hello Kitty ipod terror. Made me realize that I'm much more dorky and girly at the same time. And I have to say I tried to find it, but not even ebay has it for sale for the states.
;)
My pick would have to be the Jack Valenti interview, if only because his comments about Kennedy's assassination were just so strange and inappropriate.

My favorite is still the bic pen barrel as Kryptonite lock pick.

I owe my entire bike collection to you guys!
Ah, who can forget http://robots.engadget.com/entry/1234000340029427/ - I can't. I think this is the very onliest blog entry that has ever given me actual wake-up-breathless nightmares. Well, one nightmare, anyway.
Congrats on your big day. Who's a big boy?
OK, my favorite post last year was the Kryptonite Lock for sale on eBay with two "keys" which were Bic pens. Quite amusing.

I loved the article on how to setup gmail as a file server. Awesome - you guys rock! Keep it up!

This is probably my friends favorite post, more like it. Because of this post I got him the Canary Wireless Hotspotter for Christmas, and have been asking my wife for one as well.
Happy birthday Engadget!

the last great podcast of yours. providing excellent tech instead in audio form. rss feeds on an ipod just don't do these topics justice.
This one, from not that long ago caught my attention. Will my wife let me get a kit to spout flames from my car's arse? I can imagine not. But the idea is pretty hilarious anyway.

I have to say, the Quantum Sleeper has stuck in my mind. Possibly that makes it my favourite...!

Here's mine.

This was the first Engadget post I ever read (after being introduced to Engadget from the then G4/Tech TV) and it got me into podcasting (before this I had no clue as to what podcasting was). It's not a "big" post but it's the one I remeber most because it was my introduction to my five plus times a day visit habit named Engadget.
Happy Birthday Endaget!

No question. When the shuffle was announced, the Apple fanboy in me had to fight with the skeptic in me. This post was a solid win for the skeptic.

my favorite? the iPhoto being used in conjunction with a screen projector as a presentation device. because, c'mon, anything's better than powerpoint. anything.
i even tried to get my boss to buy an iPhoto just so we could try that. (BTW-he laughed and said "no".)
A relative new reader, but hooked. My selection, the new Dell LCD monitor:

For the lust factor...
I think my favorite post in the past year is pretty self explanitory:
http://www.engadget.com/entry/2744397186452731/
And seriously, I doubt any of us can ever get enough of David Hasslehof.
This one, from not that long ago caught my attention. Will my wife let me get a kit to spout flames from my car's arse? I can imagine not. But the idea is pretty hilarious anyway.

Overall I'd have to say anything that gets posted to http://gadgets.engadget.com/
But if I had to pick it would be the recent flaming bible. http://gadgets.engadget.com/entry/1234000293034161/
My favorite entry for this year was:

Post #123 by Paxxil on this ipod shuffle thread:

Everyone who keeps drinking the Apple-flavored Haterade (great term BTW, thank you engadget for coining it) should read post #123 and think about it for at least 10 seconds before continuing to spew trollflames. Happy birthday engadget, keep on rockin' in the free world
My favorite post: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000100030115/
"Tivo Deathwatch" -- Not because I hope Tivo is on it's way down (quite the opposite -- I'm a huge Tivo fan), but because it's the post that brought me to this great website (though a google search). And, I've been visiting the site religiously for the past week (yes, I'm a newbie). An incredible site, this. Happy 1 year anniversary -- Keep up the great work!
I like all the tech articles....but I really like the ones dealing with modding technology to do something it wasn't designed to do. I guess the one I like the best is the guys that modded their cars James Bond style to defeat avoid automated camera enforcement.

Happy Birthday Engadget!!
What drawn me to your site is the really off topics stuff!

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000047027364/
I know everyone was wondering how to get into this thing. I'm sure many people have upgraded their own memory instead of paying out the a$$ for an Apple tech to do so.
http://engadget.com/entry/1234000680034337/
This is my favorite post because it's the one located the contest post. So it was the easiest to get to and copy and paste. Don't get me wrong, I read Engadget every day. This was just the easiest way to enter my lazy ass in the contest.
My fav would be the DIY iPod Car Mount http://www.engadget.com/entry/2363716514860238/ it's just made so well and exactly what I need for my car.
