It's our birthday, and we're giving you the presents

Hey, it's our first birthday today and to celebrate we're having our biggest giveaway ever. Here are all the prizes:

A year's worth of Vonage's broadband telephone service.

Five 250 CD-to-MP3 conversion packages courtesy of RipDigital.
From Lexar, two of their brand spanking new 1GB JumpDrive Expression USB flash
drives.

And the biggie, a Treo 650 from Cingular courtesy of the folks at
ImportGSM.com.
Winning one of these fine prizes is easy: just tell us what's your favorite Engadget post of the past year. It can be anything, a regular post, an interview, a how-to, a review, or whatever, just paste up a link to it along with a couple of lines about why it's your fave and we'll pick nine winners at random from among the entries (and it'll be random who gets which prize). You have until noon on Sunday to enter, ok? Oh, and you can't enter more than once, and as usual, prizes can only be awarded to American residents. Good luck and happy birthday to us!
UPDATE: Contest closed! Thanks to everyone who entered, we'll announce the winners later this week.

My favorite post was the "how to" on converting your existing iPod to an iPod shuffle -- by putting a Post-It note over the screen. Somebody needs to keep the marketing machines honest. Keep up the great work.

The first ask engadget post. A somewhat simple idea returns a wealth of information from a broad specturm of users; giving a better review and coverage of items that are out there for consumers to buy.
My favorite blog is always the next one...that's what keeps me coming back.

the Gear Eye on the Sager 3790 laptop. Convinced me immediately!

is definitely my favorite.
At least until the next post with presents pops up.

This post has everything - a cell phone, a reference to The Shining, pepper spray, and a murderous teen. Minor complaint: what make/model was the phone?
The posting that I really loved from last year is the “World’s tallest building has own cell network”. I think this is a great story because it shows that a bunch of gadgets that you have featured on your website can be used in a private network with in that one building. Also the addition of your very well known humor to the article makes it fun to read. Not only that, but also that link to a picture of the “engadget building” at the end was great.

Happy birthday to the whole Engadget team
I like the hack to turn an iPod into an iPod Shuffle:
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000240027115/
Great sense of humor.
While I loved your CES coverage like everyone else. I mean who doesn't like an update EVERY 30 SECS! :) But my favorite post/subject was your HOW TO on getting music off the ipod after the iTunes 4.7 one of them was here:
http://www.engadget.com/entry/7166385640773718/
You guys kept us updated on new ways to do it when old ways went down as well.
Why you ask? Because it would have been just as easy for you guys to not mention it and remove posts of people who did bring it up to appease the Apple and the RIAA. You guys chose to stay true to the fans, us gadget lovers who plopped down good money for our ipods, and help us get back the features you and us all agree we should never have lost in the first place. For that you guys will always be very cool in my book. :)

my wife loves hello kitty. i love my wife. free treo, please.
Hey,
This is my favorite posting for the year! Having a sweatshirt whose "hair" stands on end when the wearer is feeling threatened sounds too cool. I'd add the growling sound effect too that gets loouder the closer the threat becomes until finally when touched...the shock and awe begins!

I really got into figuring out how to put video onto my Japanese PSP. I even went as far as to hook up as a tester for the Mac version of iPSP. Such a great product from Sony - your article made me want to import a PSP. Good job gang.
my favorite post was/is http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000517034303/

Found the article on Google when I was trying to figure out what Podcasting was all about. It was a very indepth peice, but the real kicker: it led me to the site and I've visited it several times daily ever since!
Ok i'll go with this one
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000573034243/

because what dog doesn't need a little upgrading
My favorite article was entitled "How-To: BroadCatching using RSS + BitTorrent to automatically download TV shows" http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000167021291/
I've found the process described in this article to be extremely useful in my daily life, because I just don't have the time to watch some of my favourite shows when they are on and this allows me to watch high quality recordings of my favourite shows when I have the time.
In fact, I would just like to say a big THANKYOU to everyone there at engadget for making life a little better for all your readers. I know I read this site more than any other site out there, so keep up the good work.
Happy Birthday Engadget, may there be many more!
This post is my favorite http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000743034159/ just because it's so crazy-silly to think of Bill Gates as a knight!
One question (which I doubt will ever get answered, but it would be fun): Why do you look for people to enter this contest by posting on a Swedish web site? I'm an American living in Sweden, so I apparently don't qualify for this contest, but I don't understand why you posted for entries on 99mac.se.
Thanks for a great weblog anyway!
Favorite Store was the 25% of Hong Kong cellphone owners are under 13?
Because it shows how even the great editors of Engadget sometimes miss the boat completely (read through the comments and you'll understand.)

First off, happy b-day, you are among the few sites I read religiously =)
Well, I wouldn't say it's so much my favorite post as it is my favorite genre of posts, that is the ones about all the odd gadgets from around the world, particularly East Asia. Without you, I would never get to see all these (dare I say clever?) gadgets, because I know they will never make their way over to me in the States. A dialy dose of humor to boot, as you guys generally have some great sarcasm to accompany the posts.

This one, from not that long ago caught my attention. Will my wife let me get a kit to spout flames from my car's arse? I can imagine not. But the idea is pretty hilarious anyway.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
So much has happened this year, and you have pointed me to so much great stuff like... Buck the Animated Deer and the Cathartic kitchen Voodoo knife rack, but my favorite thing of all is ...

The iPod firmware hack, i.e., the "original" Hello Kitty mp3 player :)
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000610023097/
This was the first story I read at Engadget (linked via Hack-a-day), and now I read the site religiously every day. Thanks for being informative, intelligent, and humorous, all at the same time. Happy birthday!
