The SCH-V770, Samsung's seven megapixel cameraphone

Dude, five megapixel cameraphones are so over—Samsung's finally busted out the SCH-V770, that seven megapixel cameraphone they've been promising us (they intro'd their five megapixel SCH-S250 cameraphone back in October). Of course, we'd rather they focused less on the megapixel race and more on putting better lenses in there, but what are you gonna do? They've got to keep one-upping LG. The SCH-V770 could go on sale as early as June.

P.S. - We're guessing they didn't use a seven megapixel anything to take that cruddy press photo.

This looks less like a phone with a camera tacked onto it and more like a camera with a phone tacked onto it. I personally wouldn't trust that either a cameraphone or a phonecamera would really excel at either function, and doubt that I'd buy anything with both functions built in (until I'm forced to from lack of choice) but I guess this might silence some of the image quality critics. It just doesn't look like it'd be very convenient to carry around or use as a phone.

holy crap, seven megapixels? i have my doubts about a phone/camera that can be a great camera AND a great phone. personally, i am more than OK with having two seperate devices. i guess i'll always see a cameraphone as a novelty item, but well, yeah, seven megapixels? sheesh. who's going to be able to afford this anyway? if you're THAT serious of a photographer, you won't be looking to your phone to take great shots. i'm guessing anyway...

That's a freakin' camera with a phone slapped onto it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's probably not what you were expecting when Samsung announced a 5mp (or 7mp) cameraphone a while back.
