Samsung SGH-i750 Pocket PC Phone
If you're thinking that this thing looks a lot like Samsung's i730 Pocket PC Phone, you're right—the SGH-i750 is pretty damn similar, just with one (well, at least one) major difference: instead of a QWERTY keyboard, the i750 has a more traditional numeric keypad (and that's either a big plus or a big minus depending on what you're looking for in a smartphone). It's also got tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (instead of EV-DO, like the i730), a TransFlash memory card slot (instead of SD), and a two megapixel digital camera, but otherwise is about the same as the i730: 64MB of RAM, 128MB of flash ROM, a 2.8-inch, 65,000 LCD touch screen, Bluetooth, and WiFi.

What a waste of nice hardware with the Microsoft crap OS.

The question is, does this run the current version of Windows mobile (hope not) PPC phone edition (maybe as it has a landscape
mode) or Magneto / Windows mobile 2005 (I hope so)
Either way so its a blinding spec / form factor, Transflash is a let down but you cant have it all!

This is still a CMOS camera, right? Not CCD... Just the 2 MP part caught my eye...

I saw this kind long time ago. It was with Palm OS.
This will be another VAPOREWARE from Samsung...

Samsung has a reputation for NOT materializing spectacularly announced phoned during CeBit. Indeed, remember the sgh-i500, sgh-i505 and even sgh-i530 ??? That was some 2 years ago...

I believe strongly that this will be vaporware by looking at the specs. There aren't any Triband Edge networks. T-mobile is not edge compatible so it won't release edge gsm phones and Cingular needs 850 band. We'll never see this in the US.

Are these working prototypes or already in mass production?
I think its impractical to have WiFi on a smartphone... its not as if there is no GPRS capability which in some instances may be cheaper to use. Integrating WiFi in the phone could jsut increase cost and probably just add instability.

OK, call me an optimist, but this is exactly what I am looking for if it includes PPC Phone Edition. I've got an Audiovox PPC4100 which would be perfect if 1)in had built-in wi-fi instead of having to use the SD slot as I do now, 2)had built-in blue-tooth for a wireless headset, 3) was a little smaller form factor, and 4)had an actual keypad for dialing instead of touching the flat screen to dial. This would have everything I've been trying to find in a full-blown pocketpc. I'd pay a bundle to get it if it proves to be more than just windows mobile.....
