Motorola @ CTIA - CDMA RAZR V3 has a 1-megapixel cameraphone
We scored some shots of the new CDMA RAZR V3, and guess what, they upgraded that anemic VGA camera to a slightly more hefty 1-megapixel! Obviously the button configuration is a little different, too, but we think it's for the better.

So will this work with sprint?? I hate the current sprint phones big time!
Mh... This is weird... Does it have a Memory-Card Slot?
Normally the USB would be on the left, now it's on the right (including this thing that keeps it closed while not in use) and on the right there is a slot for something... large. Can't see what it is.
The camera was flat on the original model, now it's a bit more accentuated. Those three "holes" on the back are also new, maybe LEDs or for some kind of Docking Station....
This is just the CDMA version of the Cingular phone, correct? Fer crying out loud, why is it taking them until !q 2006 to get it released?
Fire the production engineer, this guy got some bad juice. It can't be that hard!
Figgers, that they come with a better camera, three months after I bought it from Cingular :(
Where is the mini usb connector?
Is that a headphone jack on under that tab?
The three dots on the back look like external power connection ... like on the bottom of the LG VX6000.
I think this will be Verizon's CDMAs. I wish Sprint would get them as I too hate the bricks Sprint has for phones.
Is it a EVDO compatiale phone?
Have they fixed the god-awful "ka-chink" noise the GSM RAZR makes when opening and closing? Couldn't possibly make it sound any junkier if they tried.
Bluetooth bluetooth bluetooth! Will it have it? Otherwise this is a just a nice looking paper weight.
#5: The Headphone-Slot seems to be on the right side (used to be on the left). Power, USB and Headphone use the same slot.
#9: Uh.... The V3 always had bluetooth.
#8 Ka-chink? Psycho! haha jk jk, I've had my razr for months and never did it make any irregular noises while flipping open and close.
#3: it takes a long time because a CDMA chipset requires many more components than a GSM chipset. Also, they use to make their own GSM chipsets when Freescale was a part of them and had much more control on the miniturization. They buy most of their CDMA chipsets from Qualcomm.
Any timeline on when I can find this at my local verizon store? I have a samsung that I can't wait to get rid of!
what about tmobile users?!!? will we be able to get one? i just switched from Sprint to Tmobile cause Sprint's phones are so horrible. just my luck that sprint starts unleashing the awesomeness. :(
Does this phone have R-UIM support?
Excuse me, # 10...I think #9 was saying they hope the CDMA model has Bluetooth. See, CDMA model phone owners have very few BT options. I happen to have a T608 by Sony Ericsson, the first CDMA phone with BT. Ever since SE got out of the CDMA biz, very few high quality BT phones have arrived in the CDMA world. The GSM crowd has BT phones left and right. The Moto V710 is a joke, thanks Verizon. The LG-325 sold by Sprint is equally laughable. If the CDMA RAZR is sold with BT features they way they are intended, it will be a BIG seller. IMHO
I'm tired of good phones with good features taking so long to come to Sprint or Verizon. Don't they realize that the #2 and #3 cellular companies are CDMA? They could rule USA if they had decent CDMA phones with BT. It drives me crazy cuz I want a RAZR oh so bad!
I'm a novice, but very interested in the CDMA Motorola RAZR V3 with the megapixel camera. Can CDMA phones be 'unlocked' like GSM phones? (I'm in Hawaii and using AT&T Wireless).
According to an article I just read, this RAZR might be Sprint only. It seems that Verizon has a requirement for external/extentible antenna as well as a requirement for GPS/E911 tracking that no version of the RAZR has. Read this link:

CDMA RAZR for sale now
Question from a total newbie: Can the current Razr models available (in the US) be unlocked to work with Sprint??
Thanks!
i just got off the phone with verizon. sad news :(. i asked them that if the new cdma razr will be available in the US. the lady told me that they have a strict policy that every phone that they sell HAS to have an antenna so that the service could be available everywhere. i told her that should be up to the buyer and not the provider. anyways, we got into a little debate, and obviously there was nothing which she could possibly do so it seemed pointless. so as of now, this is where verizon stands: "if motorola could boost the signal power AND add GPS for 911 tracking, then we would consider bringing it to the market" :(
Okay - here is the final chapter in the saga of the CDMA RAZR V3. I have spent months looking into this. The bottom line is that 1.)GSM is easier to cram into a small space than the CDMA technology (thats why there are cooler phones right now for GSM) 2.) you can buy the CDMA version from www.wirelessimports.com (actually you need to preorder it for $1099) they say they'll have the first batch of phones on 6/29/05 and they are spoken for (they are getting 4 or 5 at a crack) So far as I know, they are the only ones that I have found that have them and they are very highly rated for customer service. (my experience with them has been excellent 3) Niether Verizon nor Motorola will admit to be in production with; or be testing; or be looking into a V3 CDMA this year. 4) Looks like the CDMA version will not have Bluetooth.
What the fuck is "CDMA"?

Will this work for alltel?
Note to Greg and other owl-eyed readers. See the Samsung SCH-n330, the UTStarcom/ Audiovox XV6600, all of the Blackberries, and perhaps more. What's wrong with those pictures? None of them have an antenna. Sans antennae. Antenna-less they are. And have been for many months. Hence Verizon's BS argument about the "antenna requirement" has been circumcised. Now what are they gonna lie to us about? No old, cool phones that you nostalgia fans really love- like the Vader or the Qualcomm Q, because they won't let us bug you like "Enemy of the State" with E911? Oh, too late. Nevermind.
...soft clicking sounds...
My buddy gets those from Korea through another guy and unlocks and covnerts them to work in US....for $600.00
Nearly 90% of all the menus is in english....camera , text and even ringtones that talk are in english...it even speaks the numbers you dial....it is so f$$#ing cool....Im gonna get a buddy dicount at 550 bucks....yeah...
OOG
Only On Guam
In the beginning we thought the bluetooth firmware wasn't compatible with mac iSync 2.1. But finally we got it working. You will have to shut the phone down and make your bluetooth Mac discoverable, and turn the phone up. The Mac will recognize it right away. If not, got bluetooth set up on the phone and make it discoverable. That should do it, i don't remember if I did that on the phone.
Anyone know a timeline for the Sprint Motorola Razr V3
Sprint will have the Motorola Razr V3 in December 2005
Does anyone know where I can get motorola V3 cdma. Please email me to let me know. Thanks
clerie@hotmail.com
Is there confirmation that it will be available for Sprint in Dec '05, or am I gonna finally have to make the jump to Cingular?
Just heard that Sprint WILL NOT be getting a the razr from a reputable Sprint source in KC. They are going ot be releasing the Samsung Blade (SCH-V740) instead for December '05.
According to my Alltel Reg. Mgr, we are shceduled to have the CDMA V3 in Oct/Nov time frame, but no price point yet!
CDMA - Code Divison Multiple Access
I work for Sprint in Florida, and our sprint rep that comes in once or twice a week has heard nothing of the razr coming to Sprint. I'll ask him if he knows anything about the Samsung Blade
Also look forward to some HIGH speed Sprint TV and other things like music videos.. Real Live TV... My Sprint Rep said its supposed to run at around 300 to 400 kilobytes per second... (not to be confused with kilobits)
I asked a Veriozon rep at my local Best Buy and he said that Verizon is "testing" the phone right now and it should be out this November. That would be really cool. I also asked a Veriozon rep in my local mall and they said that it might come out later this year sometime. Does anyone know anything about this?
just talked to a verizon rep yesterday in the store and said that verizons definitely getting it in november sumtime. they are not sure the exact date or price, but they are definitely getting it..i cant wait!! im staring a hole in my calendar..i feel like im waiting for my 2006 mitusbishi eclipse that i had to wait for this summer..but i finally got that too :)
I heard the CDMA Razr will be at verizon stores the day after Thanksgiving, did not hear pricing yet.
My Verizon contract is up today, so I'm free to switch to Cingular for the Razr, though I'd rather stick it out with Verizon (better coverage in this area) until they offer it. However, I just got off the phone with Verizon customer service and was told that the Razr is NOT included in their list of future equipment releases. What's a guy to do? :-(
i went to verizon twice tho and they both told me that the RAZR WILL be at verizon in november..its a definite thing. i called the people at verizon and they said it wasnt either..but they obviously dont no yet..but the verizon reps said it was a definite thing.
CDMA Razr ...I got a new release date...November 17. Supposedly only available for sale online that date.
for those who haven't read reviews on the razr: its a good lookin phone that sux at everything else. perhaps the reception prooblem is due to gsm. however the phone breaks easily just pressin a button the wrong way will mess most of em up. any how if it does come out on cdma it will probably have better reception. this still doesn't cover its flimsy problem. a release date with verizon isn't confirmed yet and sprint is getting the samsung version. oh ya as far as verizon having to have an antena thats BS the blackberry, and samsungs i730 and a630 dont have an external antennas.
to correct my last statement the i730 does hav an antenna. the audiovox harrier doesn't
Just spoke to Motorola. They claim to have no knowledge of a CDMA version of the razr. I have called Verizon and they give me the same story. But every cell phone store that I go into tells me that the razr for Verizon will be out before the holidays. Can anyone explain this confusion to me?!?
They are full of BS. They are probably told not to say anything. I heard it was coming out Nov 17th but only for sale online at that time. SO maybe the stores are not told because it will only be available online at first. Justa thought..
Motorola's head is way up its ass. This company's own Web site is routinely missing phones for which press releases have long been issued. This is the same company that was charging $600 for a StarTac five years ago. So out of touch. The sad part is, if they took the StarTac 7868 shell and put E-911-compliant circuitry in it, they'd sell a shitload.
Verizon is just as bad, lying to callers about such things as DSL without voice (they pretend to never have heard of it, when, again, stories have circulated in the press about it for months). It's not surprising that no one can get a straight answer from these dolts.
For some reason, if you call customer service, they NEVER seem to know about getting new products. The antenna thing is crap. A commerical the other day had a phone that didn't have an antenna. So anyway, don't bother calling and asking them if they're getting the razr. They simply don't know. Hopefully in the future CDMA users won't have to suffer with a bad selection of phones just for the good coverage. The new Verizon commercial is right. It is the network, cause the phone selection sure as hell isn't keeping me there.
Alltel is releaseing a CDMA Razor on Novemeber 23rd the day before Thanksgiving. I work in technical support for them and can say its a nice phone, but I would rather get a Treo 650 or this new Mobile PC phone with windows mobile 5.0 on it....
Josh (50), has Alltel released a price for it yet? I would love to get one but I just signed up for a 1 year contract with the Audiovox CDM 8910 two weeks ago..oh well i guess I will be paying retail price for it.
http://www.vzwshop.com/razr/
Was just looking at that razr site and i noticed when looking at the page source that it was last updated the 19th and expires the 23rd aka the day before thanksgiving. Read it how it is no more
Amazing. . .even though verizon has the info at http://www.vzwshop.com/razr/ that the phone is coming soon, customer service is still clueless and a Verizon company owned store told me that there is no such thing as a CDMA razr. They did not believe me that there was info posted at the above website. I can not believe the stupidity of some human beings.
Alltel.com has the cdma razr available for sale, 199 after instant rebate.
I spoke with a Verizon sales rep in a Circuit City yesterday who said he knew the Razr was coming, but didn't have a date for its release, but that if he did he wouldn't be allowed to say what it was.
This phone has been released for Verizon, the actual release date was November 25, 2005, when it will actually be available in stores is still in the air. It is VCAST capable and is compatible with Verizon's EDVO network. You can get more information at http://www.vzwshop.com/razr/
OK It is November 28 and still no RAZR for sale at Verizon. I have been waiting for this date for a long time as many of you have. Alltel already has it for sale. How long are they going to make us wait? I am waitng on that email from them to tell me it is available. When will it be here???

Does anyone have any updated information on when the Razr is going to be released? I am trying to wait for Verizon to get it, but now it's almost December and it's still not out.
Does anyone know how much it will cost?
ok i work for verizon the date i keep hearing is dec 10 or 11. not 100% sure lets see.
Here's my theory... Verizon is currently running ads for their "holiday promotion" which is LG phones w/ Vcast, etc. They're going to get all the Xmas shoppers to sign on and hold the RAZR release until mid January... after their 14 day trial period would end so that all those who got LG phones for the holidays will be stuck with them and they can launch the RAZR to get a whole different set of customers. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't expect to see it out before the holidays.
OK latest info that I got from Verizon customer service is that the phone will be released on the web 12/7 and in the company owned stores 12/12.
I went and purchased a new black V3 razor on e-bay hoping to have it turned on by verizon. It came with no sim card so I might be screwed when Verizon does offer it.The other thing I could do is leave verizon of whom I have been loyal to for over 15 years and just switch to cingular? They would turn on the best phone ever made for me.Any thoughts?
check it out

Okay, I just called Verizon and the girl I spoke with did confirm that the phone will DEFINITELY be out before Christmas, but she didn't know the exact date. She also told me that the phone is going to be $300 with a two year contract if you don't buy it when they're having a special.
Don, I think you're in trouble. You'll need the CDMA Rzr for Verizon, seems like you bought the GSM version from eBay...
Actually, nobody ever said the razr was a good phone, quite the contrary. The only good thing said is that is was sexy and fashionable to have one. Ebay sells fake toy razr for close to $100.
I'd like to see an actual feature review.
My biggest question, quite basic, the address book is important to me. Motorola traditionally didn't offer name groups i.e., multiple #'s per name, except as completely separate listings. Does the razr still follow that pattern?
I was at a local Verizon store last week and the salesman told me it was delayed six months due to quality issues. He was letting me know that he thought the RAZR was a junk phone.
I spoke to a Verizon Rep last week and he said the RAZR is coming on December12.
I was at a Verizon store the other day and was told that the phone will be released on December 12. I was a little skeptical of the phone, but Verizon has gone to the LG software set on all of their new phones. Thus, the new razr will not have the old motorola phonebook, etc. Looks good to me. Try to talk your salesperson into holding one for you b/c I was assured that the shipment comes in on Monday.
The RZR is available today at verizon online... $199, $99 with a 2-year contract.
Okay, I'm glad to "eat-crow" (see my post 63). I was told by a Verizon store rep today that they're expecting them in their stores on 12/12 and the only difference between purchasing there and on-line is that the $100 rebate is "instant" on-line and by mail from the store. With my "new every two" it looks like I'll be getting mine on the 12th for $99.99. Yahoo!
The phone is $199 AFTER rebate, not before. If it was a $99 phone I would buy it right now.
Just got my RAZR - in hand... from the store 4 days early! Check your local store! Yipee!
What Ever happenned to SPRINT getting the Motorola RAZR....is it out?!?!?!...Is it going to be released???...what is going on?!?!?!...getting restless...can anyone shed some light?

So Verizon people, how well is it working out for you? The dummy in the store does not have an antenna. Does the actual working verizon model have one? Has it been worth the wait?
I was told by one verizon rep that the new version of this phone will come without a camera and then I went to another store and they didn't have a clue. Has anyone heard of the razor without a camera?
Just got the Phone for Verizon. Has EVDO, Bluetooth and everything else. So far, it seems that Verizon/Motorola combo is a strong one. Verizon is using the LG OS, which resolves a lot of issues that the other carriers are having with the phone. I am getting good signal quality, voice quality, and battery life so far. No antenna. Plenty of space in their address book (which is much easier to use). Verizon users have had to wait, but I think it was worth it to get all the kinks out.
