LG @ CTIA - Cingular's HSDPA cellphone
It was behind glass, but we managed to sneak a couple of pics of a handset LG is building for Cingular's forthcoming high-speed HSDPA network (HSDPA stands for High-Speed Download Packet Access, and is like an even faster version of UMTS). The LG people were crazy tight-lipped about this one, but the phone was listed as having a maximum download speed of 1.8Mbps (384Kbps up), a built-in multimedia player that can handle all sorts of audio and video formats (H.263, H.264, MPEG4, WMV, MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA), and support for video and music on demand. Cingular is already testing HSDPA in a few places right now, and from what we're hearing they're probably going to commence their nationwide rollout right around the end of the year, with more and more cities to be added throughout 2006. neat, but where are all the buttons?

I'm thinking that the lack of buttons MAY be (finally) - video calls! Don't flame me I'm just being optimistic, and with HSDPA bandwith, its entirely possible...we should of had mobile video conferncing in 2002...America is so far behind, thats why the Secret Servide uses frickin Sidekick 2's.
I really do hope they roll out SOME kind of videoconferencing, even it is postage stamp/matchbook/condom size. S***, I thought I'd never say this, but if Sprint offers videoConf before any GSM providers...f a Cingular. That's where I'll be: 909 797 6622(cell)

If I remember correctly, this is the highspeed network that tmobile is finally going to roll out, right. Anybody know when that will happen?
